To provide you with an example of the antiquary setup of DDC, let's look at cookbooks. In DDC cookbooks (technically cookery using controlled vocabulary) are found under 641, which breaks down as
600-Technology>
640-Home & Family Management>
641-Food & Drink. It then gets further broken down into geographic regions, styles and authors. It made sense in the 1870s but maybe not today.
Sometimes people just want to know where the cookbooks are located but don't want to ask for help. They wand to find it on their own by using the shelf labels or want a clear direction this popular section in a library. And really, the popular fiction section is generally kept separate from the DDC in many public libraries.

I was actually good at following the Dewey system...
That’s another skill time has rendered useless I guess... just like reading a map or writing in cursive...

It's attached to Dewey, who was not inclusive and had a scandalous history with women.
Oh, so it's about virtue signaling.

Google search (including the academics) is one thing, one modern thing that doesn't fit all.
There are libraries that have so much more.
An example: you have a sick pet. The search for info via google gets you to short articles and they dead end. The Dewey system will take you to the kind of animal, and books written about it. (You won't be able to access those books at home unless you want to buy an article for $25 or more).
It has been a delight to know that I can go into any university library and go to the sections I'm interested in.
Getting away from books with pages to electronic only is a whole additional problem.

Hence your argument is universally fatally flawed.
