Baw, I’m in the movie theatre right now…

ETA: if Martin Folse pulls his creativity out like he did for “Terror in the Swamp”. It would sell more tickets than the Ghost Busters movie with women.

That’s not how any of that works. Where do you think they get power? Power lines or something?

They all wind powered. They have soooo much energy right now, they frying two lobsters at a time!

Your boyfriend would rather be on that rig than be home with you

They’re not producing right now. How much diesel do you think they have on board?

What I thought, commenting on things you don’t know much about. Ton of engineering and technical abilities are needed for many roles out there.

Lmao. Not every rig has this. I've had frozen pizza and hot dogs on platforms, rigs, boats and some slop that someone tried making. I ended up eating cereal it was so bad. Cheap companies don't give 2 shits about the quality of food.

Son the offshore industry would grind to a halt if tOT decided to drag up.

Was more directed to this thread vs. entire OT. Yes some know about it but usually the vast majority of ppl think offshore is working on a jack up drilling rig. They have no idea of all the various type of platforms and activities that take place every day in the GOM.

Obviously generators. The fuel supply is the issue. Three things:

1. Fed off of gas produced. This platform is almost certainly shut in
2. Buyback gas- the pipeline is most likely shut in
3. Diesel- they’re going to run out if they’re operating strictly off of diesel

This isn’t just a fun few days off for those guys if they really got stuck out there. If there’s only 6 of them, it’s a small platform without the luxuries some of the big platforms have

Enlighten me, what is your experience working in the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico? I may be completely wrong about you.

Not much. A couple of summers while in school, but that isn't important.

This would be a great setup for a horror movie. One of the baws is a fricking psychopath and they just fired him this morning, waiting for the next transport to take him off platform, but the boat didn't get there because of the hurricane and now their power is out.

I hereby copyright this movie idea.

Too late.

I wrote a Halloween treatment with this setup for a screenwriting class back in college

Michael Myers on a rig in a Hurricane.

They all have emergency generators and a couple of weeks of fuel to run them. Never know when the seas will be too rough for a supply boat to transfer diesel to the platform so extra fuel is kept on board. When in an emergency situation only run essential equipment - don't use much power. I rode out a few storms in my 40 year career .
