Actor Rick Hurst, best known for playing Deputy Cletus Hogg in the hit sitcom “The Dukes of Hazzard,” has died at age 79.

His death was confirmed by Ben Jones, his co-star on the show, who posted a message on the Facebook page of the Cooter’s Place museum, which is dedicated to the show, on Thursday.

“It doesn’t seem right that Rick Hurst passed away this afternoon. When something so unexpected happens, it is ‘harder to process,’ as the current expression goes,” wrote Jones

Would have thought he was a good bit older. You could have told me he died 20 years ago and I wouldn’t have blinked an eye.

I met him at World of Wheels as a kid and got a signed headshot of him - he wrote "Keep your Dukes Up!"

Any time I hear someone reference Dukes of Hazzard I think back to that little puppy I think Flash was the character's name
and then that same type of dog got kicked by an Islamic terrorist at the airport
this week

Close.

Flash was a basset hound.

The Egyptian POS drop kicked a beagle.

Did you know that Sorrell Booke, the actor who played Boss Hogg was a genius and spoke 12 languages? He was an amazing guy and had an incredible career.

Truly a Boss (Hog).

Wiki:
quote:

Booke enrolled in Columbia University at 16, and performed in Shakespearean plays in Columbia's drama club. He graduated from Columbia at 19 in 1949, and received a Master of Fine Arts at the Yale School of Drama.[1][5][6] He once starred in a stage production of Beethoven with Paul Newman while at Yale.[7] He served in the United States Army during the Korean War for two years as a counterintelligence officer.
