Richard "Beebo" Russell: Sky King (throwback stolen airliner story from 2018)

Ground service agent guy decides to go out in a blaze of glory one day. He steals a commercial airplane at SeaTac airport, completes a barrel roll just above the sound, and trained for it all exclusively with a desktop simulator. He didn't want to hurt anybody, and in the end he put it down on a remote island. It's crazy to hear the audio of his communications with ATC. The guy sounded like he was having a blast until the end where he turned pretty somber.

On August 10, 2018, a Horizon Air Bombardier Q400 was stolen from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (Sea–Tac) in Seattle, Washington. The perpetrator, 29-year-old Richard Russell, was a Horizon Air ground service agent with no piloting experience. After Russell performed an unauthorized takeoff, two McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle fighters were scrambled to intercept the aircraft. Sea–Tac air traffic control made radio contact with Russell, the sole occupant, who described himself as a "broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess." About 1 hour and 15 minutes after takeoff, Russell died by intentionally crashing the aircraft on lightly populated Ketron Island in Puget Sound.

Didn't Bombardier's engineers state that the plane wasn't physically capable of doing what it did?

He did this shite right over my house. I heard the fighter jets come screaming by and didn't know what was going on until I read the live thread on the OT.
