re: RFK and the MAHA agenda is sweeping through the states

Schools are some of the worst about nutrition and exercise. Mostly because of a few things:
Karens - my child got hurt at recess.
Candy - when I was a kid there was not candy in the school outside of a Halloween party. Now it is non stop - and then they complain about behavior.
Lawyers and liability is a big thing to that limits the movement of children. Will be interesting to see how they move around this

The Presidential fitness program and test was a big deal. Obama killed the test and pushed move which was worse
What was the reasoning for getting rid of that test? Because they didn’t want to hurt the feelings of the fat kids who couldn’t walk/run a mile or do any push ups or sit ups?

I agree, but it’s also interesting watching democrats suddenly oppose everything they championed for decades
I agree that they are unprincipled idiots as well.

Are we not worried RFKs diet habits are what led to his neuro speaking disorder?
I mean it needs to be looked into
i can’t tell if you are being disingenuous and looking for a gotcha or not, but didn’t RFK Jr somehow get a brain worm that caused this?
If so, it’s probably pretty rare and not worth looking into

I didn’t realize that it was “intellectually superior” to try to avoid blatant hypocrisy just to white knight for Team Red or Team Blue. Then again, you’re a whiny butthurt little bitch, so I can understand your confusion

Something we would actually do during recess is take an empty soda can, twist the pull tab around so the tab was over the open part of the can, and stick a cigarette through the tab so most of the cig was inside the can, and we'd pass that around. If any of the teachers saw us it just looked like we were smoking Dr Pepper.

Yup. I’m finding it interesting watching MAGA embrace policies that democrats championed for decades.
This will blow a lot of people's minds, but people from both sides of the aisles will have ideas that the other side agrees with; they just can't say it out loud at the moment. Another interesting tidbit is watching how people from both sides of the aisle will do a complete 180 on any range of topics.

I do recall Michelle Obama's disastrous "healthy lunch" program that just resulted in kids throwing food away. Are you saying RFK is trying to repeat that same program?
She wanted trans fats banned from kids foods. If RFK pushed that now all the MLM maha moms would wholeheartedly embrace it. When Michelle pushed it the response here was “shut up darkie get your hands out of my Braxton’s lunch!” Funny how things change huh. Not surprised to find your type making excuses for that now.

Definitely doesn't blow mine, but I do find it incredibly annoying. While I appreciate that the majority of my policy positions are outside of the mainstream, there are quite a few mainline libertarian policy positions that would get bipartisan support (reforming civil asset forfeiture immediately jumps to mind) if Teams Red/Blue would pull their heads out of their asses long enough to do their jobs.

You are a liar. The problem wasn't with the idea of banning trans fats, and your comments make it quite obvious you didn't have kids in schools during that time. The major problem with her program was how it micro-managed everything. There was no wiggle-room, no way to customize local menus. EVERYONE rejected her school lunch program. It had NOTHING to do with politics or race and everything to do with the fact that her school lunch program sucked. LINK

Since the 2010-11 school year, participation in the school lunch program has fallen dramatically after more than a decade of growth. Most of the decline occurred in the 2012-2013 school year, when participation fell by over a million students. This just so happens to be the first year that the standards were in effect.
Schools are incurring massive costs to comply with the standards. Some schools have reportedly transferred money out of their teaching budgets to cover the food costs. There’s massive plate waste, food storage and equipment costs, and little flexibility for local schools to meet the needs of their students.
Michelle Obama has scolded anyone who dares to address concerns about these standards, including the School Nutrition Association (SNA), which represents more than 55,000 school nutrition professionals. That may be the only way to counter the legitimate concerns that the school system’s foot soldiers are seeing firsthand.
SNA, though, isn’t the only organization highlighting the problems. The independent Government Accountability Office did a survey of school nutrition officers. These officials expressed similar concerns, including problems with plate waste and food costs.
According to the National School Board Association, “School boards cannot ignore the higher costs and operational issues created by the rigid mandates of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act.”

That program all by itself made my then-middle school kids into lifelong Republicans. They HATED Michelle for that!
The masking and shutting down of schools didn't help them either. They made generational enemies out of the younger generation.

I haven’t looked into what RFK and his disciples are pushing for in schools, but M Obama’s program was not healthy, regardless of intent. They removed high fat foods and introduced ultra processed crap. For growing kids, especially athletes, this was counterproductive. Kids need high calorie and nutrient dense food. Not impossible burgers that taste terrible.
Hopefully these new policies are not demonizing calories per se, but are instead targeting high processed/ added sugar foods with unnecessary additives.
Clean food + exercise is what kids need

And, as a result, record numbers of families pulled their kids away from school lunches. It was a MASSIVE failure.
