The funny thing is LSU put the cables in the trees because about 4 or 5 years ago one of them got struck by lightning and people complained that LSU wasn't doing enough to protect the stately oaks.

LSU may want to go ahead and cut down that tree (and the other live oaks just to be safe) since nooses were typically hung from similarly offensive looking trees
