Britain's weather forecaster issued its first-ever red "Extreme Heat" warning for parts of England on Monday and Tuesday when temperatures are forecast to reach record highs, triggering a "national emergency" alert level. Much of Europe is baking in a heat wave that has pushed temperatures into the mid-40s Celsius in some regions, with wildfires raging across tinder-dry country in Portugal, Spain, France and Croatia on Thursday.

quote:

Alongside, Britain's Health Security Agency (UKHSA) raised the heat health warning to Level 4 for England for Monday and Tuesday. On the Met Office website, a Level 4 red alert is defined as a national emergency, and is used when a heatwave "is so severe and/or prolonged that its effects extend outside the health and social care system. At this level, illness and death may occur among the fit and healthy, and not just in high-risk groups

Temps expected to approach 100 in London mon-tues

If you want relief head up to Scotland where the temps will top out in the low 80s

Of fricking course. I just boarded a plane to Heathrow and will be in the UK all week. Brought a raincoat and a heavy pullover expecting a break from the South LA heat.

They have said they're forecasting their "first ever 40°C day". That is a bit misleading because it is the first they've forecast it, but there have been plenty of 40° days in the past, which was noted later in the article I read.

That legit sucks

It’ll be a slightly “drier” heat at least. Should be back to normal by Wednesday. Temps in low 70s/upper 50s

I heard the Loch Ness lake was close to running out of water due to climate change and oil & gas extraction.

That would be interesting. I am flying over a big hard case of equipment to hand deliver to a client and provide NET training for. No case of gear, not sure what I would do besides log some hours flying the bar in a pub.

Have you been following the shitshow at Heathrow this past week? Sorry baw, but I would be prepared to hang at the pub with the soccer hooligans.
