Anyone had that happen?? Surgery in 2014 for a lateral tear; surgeon cleaned it out and I've been fine ever since with all activities.

Not sure what happened but after a normal day of taking care of home and family, it's hurting petty badly in the joint area again although there is no swelling. Didn't bump it or fall or anything, just normal daily stuff.

Will of course see about it with my ortho at some point but just wondering if anyone has had a retear after being cleaned out and were they able to clean it out again???

I thought they rarely do meniscectomies anymore because they've been proven to increase the risk of knee osteoarthritis and ultimately total knee replacements down the road.

Sorry ... should have said it was a partial and the knee was "cleaned up".

And about the odd timing -- well I'm on the sofa with struggling to breathe with a cold/allergies/something so I don't keep my husband up and my knee hurts every time I change positions.

And return to running would be _________??? My family needs to to be able to run -- it's for their safety and my mental health.

Maybe it's just inflamed.

RICE method and see if it gets better.

Thanks .. That's what I'm hoping --- Louisiana Half is in two weeks. My brain is jumping the gun because I've been through this before.

Could also be tendinitis.

What worries me is that it started out of the blue. I ran two halves two weekends in a row at the beginning of December with no issue whatsoever. Haven't done jack since with the holidays, etc so it's "shouldn't" be an overuse issue.

Just scared it would be worst case scenario -- glad I like the surgeon I went to in case I need him to check it out.

Yep. They can retear, and you might not feel it right away. Also, you might be able to rest and buy some time. Give it some time and see if it doesn't improve.

I'm mainly worried about it now due to Louisiana half -- I've already deferred 2017 to 2018. If they let me defer again I will likely do so if it's not better by then.

Yes, nothing they did the first time was curative. The physiology of your knee hasn't changed so it will nearly always tear again.

I had mine done twice and have since said frick it and quit wasting time & money on surgeries.

Same thing. Mine has never been the same. Get a nice compression sleeve when you play sports. I also did some PT and acupuncture after retreat and avoided another surgery

Yes, it is very common to re-tear it.
