Wut. That appraisal price is a made up number. You'll be lucky to get 33% of what you paid for it

That would all depend on where you bought the ring from. New or vintage? Cut of stone? Clarity of stone?

Remember, the value is what someone will pay for it. That’s it.

A ring doesn’t belong in the same category as funerals, weddings, service fees, etc.

I'd like to add to this, a can of freaking beans I opened that was somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 full of actual beans with water filling up the rest for weight. Total bullshite, and there was no where near 16oz of beans in that can.

Excellent post OP.

This is edu related, but requiring digital access to textbooks in order to do graded fricking HW is a con job and the textbook publishers need to be out belly under.

Their software is shite. Their info useless when you can better better quality for free. Giant fricking racket.

At $4-5 a beer I'll by $20-25 worth. At $12, I'm probably buying 0.

Been saying this for years. At Braves games I maybe get one beer but with Arthur Blank pricing at MBS i’ll buy much more beer and food

If only government would force a change to everything you just said.

I would vote for anyone who was serious about changing most of this.

Funerals really are the worst. Just let the family hold onto the body and toss it in a dumpster when done with it

I hate furniture shopping. You could spend a fortune and still get garbage. Style and quality vary too much.

At least with homes, cars, clothes, etc - there is a decently strong correlation between price and quality.

List is pretty solid, however:

Well, lets say that when your body dies, your "soul" doesn't. Might be pretty unpleasant to wake up in a furnace, realizing your form is melting all around you. Jus sayin.

Nonsense. There's not enough old furniture left that can accommodate a growing nation. Plus, the only reason that old furniture exists, is because somebody previously went to a place that sold furniture to but it.

Lol wtf? So you’d rather your soul be in an underground box?

Furniture quality is getting worse not better. Solid wood pieces from50 years ago are way better than Chinese plywood

College textbooks were going to be on the original list but I forgot.

And I don’t know anyone who likes their health insurance.

I pay $400 or so a month and still have a $3000 deductible. It absolutely deincentivizes me to go to the doc. It’s basically emergency insurance but that’s it

Health insurance - The biggest rip off of all. You have to have it but you get screwed every step of the way.

Is it because you pay your insurance bill, and not directly to the hospitals/doctors/pharmacists/labs?

Have you ever looked at the prices that are paid to those people?

Do you think the insurance company is keeping, say, 50% of your money?

If not, and let's say they have 5 or 10% overhead . . who else is going to pay it--the government? With what?

Like with any insurance, you could pay higher premiums for a lower deductible.

But surely all that healthcare is so cheap you'll never reach that $3,000 dollar deductible.

Just imagine the raw materials that have been wasted for the packaging of things like cereal and chips that only require packaging half the size.

The oil change my dad got on his 05 highlander. We still use the damn thing and the car was totaled ( hail storm). Still drives like a champ with a oil change every 3000 miles.

Traditional cell phone plans are pretty bad. They’ll let you pay your phone off over two years but they will sell you an expensive plan. Buy your phone outright and prepay and your looking at paying half as much at the most and you can just put your money back to buy your next phone. I don’t understand why anyone is on a traditional expensive plan at this point.
