That makes sense before trying to open a restaurant. You'd have learned how much rent you SHOULD be paying, where you're going to get fresh vegetables and how much you should order, same with meat and liquor. And you'd hopefully have learned how to know when the staff robs you.

Having a good friend that does this, the best way to learn the restaurant business is to be in it. Start low and work your way up so you know every aspect of the kitchen from line cook to head chef. Along the way you also learn all you could ever need to know about good and bad management, because you'll probably go through more than a few restaurants.
This is absoluely true. I worked in the business for years, and believe me, going to culinary school DOES NOT guarantee that you will open or run a restaurant, nor does it even guarantee you a good job. The best way to do it is to commit yourself, get lot's of experience, and hopefully find a mentor (chef, manager, etc.). Good luck, but be prepared for YEARS of hard work.

i didn't have the heart to tell him he will also develop a coke habbit and knock up some whore waitress and end up paying child support for 18 years to some chick that will just take the money and spend it on meth.

Between this and your last post about divorce, alcoholism, etc., you have proven to me that you definitely know what you're talking about! It's a sad fact, but it's true!
