In Minnesota I had pay an extra 1-2% to pay for the employees medical insurance. The receipt had total, tax, tip and benefit fee .

Why are you paying a 5% processing fee? That’s high

I am just making the example easy to follow. I pay so much per swipe and a fee on the tips we collect. My hg's leave with their money that night and we receive that money in the disbursement less their cut

When a place charges a CC fee, I break out the checkbook and take an inordinate amount of time slowly writing in cursive. I also ask several times who to make it out to and how much it's for.

Do stupid shite and I'm going to waste as much of your time as possible.

Some of you b3nd over and take it up the arse. I at least show my displeasure.

Why not just increase the cost of everything 3% and not say anything to your customers so as not to annoy weirdos like me?

They will once the inflation has slowed and prices have stabilized. I remember when I was in business school an example of one of the hidden costs of inflation was the price of continually having to reprint menus.

I just tip less when they do that, hate to do that for the server but they can blame their greedy owner
you do realize that the ‘greedy owner’ is responsible for paying the server at least minimum wage if the server does not make at least minimum wage in tips & hourly compensation?

Why do I have so many downvotes?? Do you people really think waitstaff only makes $2.34 an hour???

Insurance is going to break so many businesses. On top of that, you get a degraded experience because liability is much more expensive than you never coming back and patronizing the business. Read that DQ pay lawsuit. a $450k settlement for the lawyers to take the lion's share while all the employees got about $200 each. All over an antiquated law requiring businesses to pay weekly instead of bi-weekly. The employees wanted to stick it to the business and their lawyers found the old law on the books. The DQ franchise insurance pays out and their premiums go up. Now the customers get to pay more at the menu. All because someone was pissed off at their former employer

Winston... why tf did you tip 25% on a single food item that they already charged you a 20% gratuity on? Actually, they charged you more than 20% on as they used the service fee to pad the subtotal before force tipping.

I tip very well when I use the company card, just assuming he's doing that.

Bet. Come on over here to Oklahoma and I'll show you a thing or twelve.

I have a lot of time to go out of my way to be an a-hole.

Odds are he is just inconveniencing some hourly employee. Best case scenario it is the owner that is just trying to figure out how to keep their doors open

I just self-ordered from a Tim Horton's kiosk, paid via CC, and it asked for tip.

I usually tip a little bit but on its face this is insane. They aren’t doing a damn thing to service the customer. There’s literally no difference between this and fast food

The only way to combat that is for people to stop ordering through delivery service providers. I cannot feel too bad when people constantly order from them at much higher prices all while getting diminished quality food. I've got people that order 3-5 times a week from me. I love their business but I just don't get it
