After failing to find a contractor to haul off garbage uncollected for 18 days in much of New Orleans, city officials said Thursday night they are assigning municipal, Sewerage & Water Board and Regional Transit Authority crews to pick up the putrid bags.

I can't wait to see how this works!

It is rough work as I owned a small garbage company.
Really invested in it when my buddy was alive.
He died from a heart attack and his lazy son took over.
I stepped in to save the money I invested.
1 am phone rings off the hook as hoppers and sometimes drivers that have not shown up for work need money to pay their rent or baby's momma. They are crying drunk asking if they can come back to work. You say yes, and guess what they will never show up.
3:30 am rounding up your hoppers and the professional ones know when to hide after a storm. You have to bribe them with extra cash and then they get their buddies up.
4:30 am drivers come in and going through daily pmcs, hoppers getting their ice/water containers on the trucks. Trucks are rolling out. You always have one that breaks not matter what.
4:30 am to whenever the mechanics are trying to get that truck up. Scrambling to move drivers around to make up routes.
5 am the mechanics get the truck up and it going out.
6 am you have at least one truck hit a power line, get stuck in a ditch, flat, breaks down, or stuck in the mud at the landfill on a wet day.
7 am -7:30 am administration comes in and that a new can of worms.
mid day meetings with sales and operations
12-1 turn off phone at lunch but rings anyway
1pm - 3 pm trucks coming in and if cross your fingers they all are up you are checking computer or dispatch sheets to see what cans the trucks missed.
1- 3pm - try to move a truck with a driver that has time left on some missing cans and interview candidates for jobs.
3pm to 5 pm trucks come in, pmcs on trucks going on, getting trucks into evening service if needed, and answer customer complaint emails.
Do you think the Sewer and water board can handle this?

That sounds eerily similar to how running a staffing agency for temp labor works
I don't miss it AT ALL

S&WB is definitely familiar with fielding complaints.

I don't know much about those entities, but if I was in one and civil service, I'd be before the Board tomorrow.

Because a significant portion of Orleans parish residents adore, respect and fear her Ghettoness.

Just leave your trash on the ground anywhere in NOLA.
Will be proper disposal.

sounds about right:
quote:
The crews will not be emptying the garbage bins, however; those must wait until Metro or one of its subcontractors gets to them. The emergency crews will pick up only bags outside of bins because they are creating health hazards as they pile up.
There you have it. Dump your garbage bins out into the street if you want your shite picked up.
