Researchers Find The Gene That Makes Primate Brains Bigger Like Human Brains

TL;DR Japanese scientists in Germany used gene manipulation to successfully increase brain size in monkey fetuses and the size increase happened in a very human like way such as with increased brain folds. They say they aborted the fetuses after 100 days, but it's 2020 so I'm expecting Planet Of The Apes will unfold soon.

Scientists Grow Bigger Monkey Brains Using Human Genes, Replicating Evolution
Now a collaboration between researchers in Germany at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics and in Japan at the Central Institute for Experimental Animals, has used that same gene to grow a monkey brain to be bigger for the first time.

Yeah, because hyper Intelligent apes is JUST what 2020 needs

Now find the reverse for penis size.
ETA: apparently primates have tiny dongs. Poor attempt, I’ll see myself out.

We’re really making a valiant effort to destroy ourselves

You realize humans are primates, right?

Of course. Was more responding to the thread title.

BTW, this article is from June but it's new to this board. If this topic seems familiar it's because back in April someone posted about the Chinese doing gene editing on Macaques.

I'm sure the Chinese are being very careful with the work they're doing in the lab to make sure it wouldn't take down the rest of the world.
quote:
For the first time, a team of Chinese scientists made use of gene-editing techniques to make monkey brains more human-like. By the end, the monkeys, rhesus macaques, got smarter and had superior memories as compared to the unaltered monkeys.
Researchers edited the human version of a gene known as ‘MCPH1’ into the macaques. The gene made the monkeys’ brain develop along a more human-like timeline. The gene-hacked monkeys showed better reaction times and improved short-term memories in comparison to their unaltered peers, as per China Daily.
...However, few scientists also raised concerns regarding the technique, some even calling it ‘reckless’. Geneticist James Sikela told the MIT Technology Review, “The use of transgenic monkeys to study human genes linked to brain evolution is a very risky road to take. It is a classic slippery slope issue and one that we can expect to recur as this type of research is pursued.”

But they can't cute baldness or micropenis ????

Does anyone really trust that they didn’t keep one super brain monkey baby to see what it can do?

Amazing research, what could possibly go wrong?

Need to try this on humans before we're in full-blown idiocracy mode.

I for one we not welcome our new simian overlords.

The first pic is two gonads with a penis pointing to the right. Some dude sat on the machine.
