These threads always bring out the loons. Obviously this is a problem that is getting worse and worse. Do you think our president is gonna come out and say "Welp, nothing we can do"
You may not agree on the practicality of gun control laws but he's not "deranged" because he wants to at least try to do something. I honestly worry about some of you that think Obama is mentally ill

Yeah frick that guy for not wanting innocent people murdered and trying to make change. You people will still have your guns.
It's your right to drive a car. Doesn't mean you can just get one and hop on the road. It's regulated.
And yes, even if it does save one life. Because that could be my life. Or my dads. Or my future children's life.

What is he supposed to do all on his own?
Of course not, but even the radicals on the far right will propose actions they know won't succeed. They'll threaten government shutdowns over them.
Obama goes on tv, then quietly counts votes, looks at polling and hopes everyone forgets he promised to take action.

Is he mentally sick for trying to prevent this from happening or is those of us that allow it to continue.
That entire statement rests upon the false premise that gun control prevents this. That has been equivocally disproven throughout history. Chicago bans guns; they still have (lots and lots and lots) of murders.

This just came across my twitter feed.

I have no idea about what? Common GD sense? Aren't you guys the ones who always carry the "if you have nothing to hide what's the problem?" Or "play stupid games.,." ?
I have MANY guns. Thankfully, I'm sane enough to know IDGAF if I have to register them or submit to a background check to buy another.
BTW... Background checks are more stringent for some jobs than guns.
frick right off.

Yeah dude, because all of these mass shooters follow all the gun laws, right? No way anyone ever gets in a car on a suspended license/no license and kills anyone.

Any details on the shooter being released other than being a confirmed male?
20 years old.
So likely a student at the college.
Otherwise, nothing confirmed.

seems to be something unique in the American culture that makes mass shooting more common
Massive wealth disparities?
An individualistic culture?
Easy access to weapons of mass destructions?
The idiocy and irrelevancy of the 2nd amendment?
Our obsessions and attachment to material goods (which many people tie their existence to) and our fight to the death to protect it?

Obviously you won't stop everyone. But you will save lives. You will keep some guns away from people intending to do harm. That's good enough for me

You're the one who blew into this thread accusing everyone who disagreed with the President's show boating of being a conspiracy theorist.
I went through a background check for every firearm I've ever purchased.
And I have no idea what you mean by "you guys"? People who don't think it's a great idea for the President to talk about a bunch of shite he absolutely will not do in the hours after a tragedy?

Shocking that Obama is an arse clown that twists every national tragedy to push his agenda.
I would love to know what his common sense gun laws would be considering he has no common sense.
Also as proved by the last few shooters, that had no recorded history of mental illness, how exactly do you plan to figure out who's the next killer? Deny anyone who's ever had an outburst or taken medicine the right to purchase a firearm?

It would have to be extremely tight and nationwide. It just isn't going to happen in a way that will work. And I'm glad.

He has sjw in his handle.
Comes as no surprise.

You say he's a show boat. I contend you're a fricking lunatic redneck.
Agree to disagree?

I'm pretty sure he's a legit troll, his stuff is way too overboard for even our most liberal liberals.

Common sense tells me that airport level security would be far more effective at securing a school than hoping background checks and gun control will magically stop a nut from bringing a weapon to school. Common sense says gun control is about as likely to stop gun violence as the war on drugs has been in stopping drug usage. Incidentally, today is the first day you can buy recreational pot in Oregon. Too bad the shooter didn't stay home and hit his bong.
But then again, I'm not a political hack locked into the only solutions being offered by the left (gun control) or the right (arm everyone and pray).
