Bret Hart was always overrated in my opinion. He will always be just one of the "Hart Foundation" tag team (to me). That is where he belongs in history.
That said, all three of them belong in the Hall of Fame under this title. I miss watching Jimmy running his mouth with his megaphone.

I think Hart's best run with the company was as a solo competitor in the mid-90s, but to a degree the contributions both he and Michaels contributed to wrestling will always be overstated.
Both guys benefited from the steroid scandal. Odds are Vince would've never put the title on guys as small as them otherwise.
Secondly both guys were on top during a period of time where Vince was either on the verge of closing his doors, the clear number two in the industry, or some combination of both

I hate to say it, but I think the same thing about Shawn Michaels. In fact, I like him even less than Bret Hart. Shawn should have been forgotten as one of The Rockers, just like Marty Jannetty. I'll never understand how he got such a prestigious breakout solo career.

Shawn appealed bigtime to the casual fans which far outnumber the hardcore fans. Every casual fan I know loved him.

I just couldn't see the appeal. Aside from being smaller, he didn't have half the charisma or mic skills that most of the talent did. Shawn was nothing compared to stars like Macho Man, The Rock, Steve Austin, etc. He was boring.

In hindsight, I just don't see what the big deal would have been having him lose in Canada.
Because he is Canadian we have to let him win when he is in Canada? What about all the Americans forced to lose in America to Canadian wrestlers?
Vince understood what was at stake. If Hart wins that match he leaves the company with the WWF title and runs off to WCW. It completely makes the WWF title lose its value.

Shawn Michaels in 97 was a good as wrestling got. Go on YouTube and watch his promos. Randy didn’t come close to that.
In the mid 90s WWF was poorly run contuing the “cartoon show” when the most talented guys were smaller.
Vince relied on Shawn to get Diesel over...a guy with tons of natural charisma couldn’t get really over without HBK.
Hell a lot of Nash’s big career moments happened In HOUSE SHOWS including his introduction, his world title and tag title first time wins. What kind of storytelling is that?
Bam Bam headlined a WM, while HBK-Nash were the undercard. Poor booking.
Bret Hart was trash on the mic until he went “heel”...that Hart Foundation was awesome. But in ring? Hart lived up to his moniker.
Bret-Shawn was probably the best feud ever, in part because of Montreal, in part because of real life Heat. What made it great is they had nothing to lose & made the attitude era.

I forgot all about the Dudleys getting in. I thought the last tag team was the Road Warriors in like 2011.

The only question about The Screwjob was if it was a work, why the hell was WCW so hell bent on carrying on a WWF story?
“Cuz WCW” doesn’t pass the smell test. Guys weren’t typically having stories down South that started up North.
Owenwas buried(no pun intended RIP) on the card shortly thereafter when it would’ve catapulted him into World Title status. Anvil & Bulldog being released immediately too was a little odd.
Maybe it was a discussed ending that Bret didn’t agree to, then he sold it. But it catapulted WWF & didn’t benefit Bret a whole lot. Also, after Bret retired, it still took him a long time to set foot in the WWE ring again.
However if it was a complete work, it was the greatest story ever told in pro wrestling.
