You corksoakers are the reason I stick around here!

The replacement dryer is used but I like this model.
I could swap cords to avoid an outlet swap. Figured I’d get one intelligent answer and I did.
My hands are not fat, they are big though.
Half my grout is cleaned, the rest....pain in the arse to finish the job but on the list.
Got to go bake some muffins. :)

Thanks, you bunch of pikers.

If you change the whip(power cord) from 4 wire to 3 wire, then they must have removed the grounding bridge from neutral to ground. It would be smart to install a jump to replace it.
Good luck.

Tell me what makes it a "pigtail"?

The multiple wires and/or lugs on the opposite end from the plug.

You're saying a whip(power cord) has multiple wires on lugs?
A pigtail is more than one wire tied together with a "pigtail" to land on a device or screw with one terminal.
Good luck in your future.

Not an electrician but the term pigtail and whip get interchanged a lot. I think of a whip as a power cord without any plugs on the ends. Example being an air conditioner where the individual wires are encased in a flexible conduit and all the wire ends are bare and unconnected.

A pigtail or dryer cord would have the plug on one end.

Google “dryer pigtail” and see what shows up. Call it what you will. That’s what the white goods guys call it.
Why don’t we compromise and call it a “dryer cord”?
That’ll secure both our futures, ;)

Must be localized then, it's what they are called here by everyone in the field.
I've never heard a "power cord" referred to as a pigtail.
Good luck to the OP.

But an adapter or just change the cord on the dryer.

Breaux,
My wife died in 2015 or I would have asked her and not have posted a question.

See if you can find a man with some screwdrivers and swap the cords.

If the old cord is still in good shape, put it on the new dryer. Make a note or picture of the terminal screws it attaches to.

Congrats on having an old house ya poor

Just kidding, it’s easy to change the cord. You honestly don’t even need a YouTube video, just make sure you properly ground it. It’s actually really easy.
