Replace "atomic bomb" with COVID-19

quote:
“In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. ‘How are we to live in an atomic age?’ I am tempted to reply: ‘Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.’
In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty.
This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

Nice, but the difference - some good came out of the atomic bomb.
Nothing good will ever come of the plandemic.

Replace Covid-19 with AIDS. Seems like there are some parallels with AIDs in the 80s and Covid now. Some people even believe that AIDS was intentionally released to kill a certain segment of the population.

Right. Pick any generational human scourge. But I don't believe AIDs put the same fear in people as the atomic bomb or COVID because only a small percentage of people were scared of AIDs.

I did read a story recently about how a Dentist with AIDS become so lax in his cleaning standards that he infected a 15 year old normal middle class girl with AIDs when it hit in the 80s. This was a true story and I believe people actually were terrified.

My wife wants to pull our son from preschool and we are fighting about it. I would send this to her, but I’m afraid she’s too far down the rabbit hole of fear to be saved.
Thanks for posting.

I vaguely remember that story.

Eventually some more of you will realize...
...there is always a crisis and there is always a boogeyman.
A happy, content populace can’t be seduced.

quote:I remember the fear while growing up in the 80’s. Everyone of us heard the lipstick story “welcome to the wonderful world of aids”. It eventually (during the mid 80- later 80’s) transitioned to acceptance of people with aids. There were after school specials and TV movies dedicated to to it.
But I don't believe AIDs put the same fear in people as the atomic bomb or COVID because only a small percentage of people were scared of AIDs.
Crack cocaine was the next big scare.

The story about the dentist really did make him look bad and I can see why people were freaking out about it honestly.

Yea and that was a pretty retard theory too.
