I told someone it "was gone" and he asked if I "passed it" - "yea, I passed an oval stone as big around as a nickel."

It wasn't a bad procedure - one "day surgery" with conscious sedation (I think) to insert a tube into the kidney then they wake you up to make sure no bleeding or other issues. I don't remember waking up, but my son said I said "this hurts like hell" and they loaded me up with drugs. I was then fully anesthetized and intubated and went up to the operating room where the surgeon removed the stone through the tube. She did a good job. I got out the next day and thought I'd go to work the day after - LOL no way.

I write this as a warning that if you are having some odd issues (I had terrible right testicular pain, followed by no pain but a lot of blood in the urine - each episode lasted a few hours but resolved itself) you might want to have your kidneys checked to be sure there is not a large stone lurking.

You have never passed a nickel through your penis?
I guess you never pledged.

Wait for twice the time it took to grow it and then the dime-sized stone will be easier to pass.

Duh.

Still got the line in that they leave in from your kidney to bladder to make sure it doesn't heal closed? If so, just wait till they yank that out. You haven't felt the real pain yet.

They likely lasered (dusted) the stone into lots of fragments. That's why you have a stent. So that the smaller fragments that get left behind, can actually pass.

One that size cannot simply be "passed". For example, 8mm stones have about a 20% chance of being passed naturally, or without lithotripsy of some sort.

Bro, do you wear skirts? I was in the ER two Saturdays ago with kidney pain. They found 7 stones. I had my follow up with the urologist yesterday and they’re all gone.

I have nothing to say other than I don't know how you're still alive.

The weirdest pain I've ever felt.
I passed an 8mm stone myself and had another 1.2cm stone removed. frick a stent, I'd rather just piss the giant rock out.

My old neighbor had a kidney stone and the DR sent him home and told him he’d have to pass it. He asked me since I had one before, “how will you know that you passed it”
I told him that a rock will come out of your dick, you will remember that moment the rest of your life.

Those are for when they come in through a catheter. They cut a hole in my side and came directly into the kidney.

Different procedure - no laser or litho. The cut a hole in your side and thread a tube/wire into the kidney. Then in the second part (full operating room) the surgeon enters the kidney and fishes out the stone (or breaks it up and fishes out the fragments).

Inflation!

In olden days, that nickel was a penny and half-eaten fortune cookie.

Glad to hear you passed!

Did you?

If so, what chapter? I have a feeling I know what office you held if you were in the one I am thinking of.

God bless you and have a speedy recovery. I passed some fragments a few years ago and it was the worst pain I've ever had in my life. I threw up from it. No problems since.

When my urologist removed that tube it reminded me of a clown removing, hand over hand, an endless succession of handkerchiefs from his pocket.
