It's extremely hard to obtain an automatic weapon legally. Don't assume anyone can just go buy one.

They aren’t really for sale. It costs a shite ton of money and hassle to get one and are highly regulated

But of course you know that

ETA: would this be the first terror attack on US soil that actually used an automatic weapon? This is extremely uncommon

Majority of the people who own them are very responsible gun owners and don't use them for sick shite like last night

Plenty of people, the press included, do not understand the difference between automatic and semi-automatic.

The military uses auto. Civilian versions of the same weapons are sold as semi-auto. They might look exactly the same but they are not the same.

I'm bracing myself for the barrage of "why are military weapons available to the public?" nonsense that we'll be seeing.

I think most people know this.

Stick to delivering mail

Didn't the military change the m-16 to Burst/Semi only?

I don't even think they'll let you shoot full auto on a gun like the SAW for more than a few seconds at a time. I could be wrong on all this though.

Fixed. Here in DC that is definitely not the case.

BTW, I'll note that it is possible to convert a semi-auto to full auto. And it's possible to obtain a full auto if you're willing to be anally probed by federal investigators. So it's possible this guy had the real deal.

It's just that invariably it gets reported that way and then it turns out later it wasn't really true.

it's 'controlled' suppressor fire is why they burst fire the SAW.
