The only cool thing I remember we did to hats back in the day was to color part of the O on a White Sox Hat.

It was definitely a thing in the late 80's.
Ok well then I was like 2 or 3 at the time whenever this was apparently a thing. And as a toddler I probably thought it was trashy as well.

If this was a thing in the New Orleans area, I was smart enough to not be around it.

Tight.
At Bon Marche, you could go next door to Aladdin's Castle and get in some Dragon's Lair and Tron: Deadly Discs time while waiting for your lettering to get ironed on.

Not at all. I do remember writing all over Jansports with white out pens though

Nah. But a huge-arse speakerbox in the backseat bumping Garth Brooks, Bulletboys, and Queensryche, though.

I'm with you, shutterspeed.
All these kids are deniers and just think revisionist history is cool because it's the flavor of the month.

Don't remember that. But I do remember the late 70's & early 80's when getting iron-ons for tee-shirts like these was pretty huge....

On a serious note, I thought about starting a thread about the 90's being the high point of society. The cultures were co-mingled as well as the classrooms. We watched In living Color, and couldn't wait to go to school to regurgitate the best one liners no matter how racially charged they were.
Looking at America today, an uniformed person would not believe how harmonious the 90's were.
You young punks missed out, and in turn get to repeat the 50's and 60's social climate.

I was a little kid in the 70's, went from teen to adulthood in the 80's, and spent my 20's in the 90's. The 90's were good, but the 80's were freaking awesome. I honestly feel bad for those who came after and missed them.

I almost got run from my elementary school for wearing an iron-on tee similar to this:
Back then, trashy and awesome could reasonably co-exist.
