Would you view it the same way if someone broke into your house and stole some expensive stuff?

After all, it's up to you to make your house/valuables secure.

Not even close to an equivalent scenario.

I know the reason you say that, but at the end of the day, both are stealing. So they're not quite as different as you're making it out to be.

But they are very different. In one case, the owner is deprived of his property, and in the other he is not.

If I go to your home and steal $150, it's not THAT much different than what amounts to stealing $150 worth of cable.

Again, I totally understand what you're saying, fair point. But also again, it's stealing, no matter how you look at it. I'm an avid Kodi user, that's stealing, so i'm not coming at this from a holier than thou perspective, it's just stealing any way you slice it.

I pay Direct TV 225.00 a month for the service in my house. Have you looked at the crap that is on Direct TV now a days. I have to have a Netflix and HULU account to actually find something to watch most of the time.

Direct TV is the thief...

But it is, because if you take $150 from me I've lost $150, whereas the satellite or cable company doesn't lose a dime. And, no, theoretical "lost revenue" is not the same as actually losing money.

I really hate arguing about this, but I am a stickler for words meaning stuff. And "stealing" is not the proper word for this. "Stealing" only applies where someone is deprived - scarcity of the item is a requirement. I don't really care if these acts have been termed "stealing" or "theft" by particular rules or laws, as those laws were written by lawyers in the industry.

Those cards were the shite back in the 90's. I had a nerd friend that did them. You had to have what was called an H card. Directv eventually came out with one caled an HU card that was easier for them to zap. They would usually send the zap signal right before a big ppv event. The unlimited porn was the greatest.
