I'm so glad these past 17 years of war have brought peace and stability to Afghanistan....

When I was there 2012-2013 and every night we would go out on a raid to K/c the “Taliban” shadow governor of the Kunar province. Every night we would hit our target and magically the next night a new shadow governor would appear. Rinse and repeat every night for the entire deployment just substituting the location.

We should have let the Russians have it. The USSR would still have collapsed, after which they would have become independent like other former satellites. However, they would have been somewhat modernized and radical groups would have been mercilessly slaughtered.
