Again, it sounded like a fully automatic weapon, which it basically was with a bump stock, and is all they knew at that point. They also had no idea of knowing how many people were inside, if there were bombs, etc.
Must be nice to be able to sit back and call these dudes cowards from your keyboard. I'm sure you would have bum rushed the guy with a butter knife given the chance.

Man this is a tough one. I wonder if they knew exactly what room the shooting was coming from? Unless you’re 100% sure it’s the room, I’m not shooting into a room where there may be innocent people. I think this and school shootings are completely different.

So its okay for the police to tell citizens to not be armed, yet accept this kind of BS from officers? 2 of the biggest police needs in the past 2 years, the police officers on site have sat back and not engaged someone for minutes at a time.
We can nit pick and monday morning Qb all we want, but its simply not acceptable to not even approach the shooter. Knock on the door and run away at least. But to hide? Unacceptable.

How about just knocking on the doors? Or hell, they are hotel security get a damn key or door code and open the door. Go from there at least.

I fully understand how this could have happened training or not..The fact remains thought that FIFTEEN minutes went by and no one else stepped up..This is most definitely on them

You've got pretty good odds when there are four of you rushing someone with a rifle..I get the hesitation, but 15 minutes is literally lifetimes
If I recall the accounts of the shooting properly, the shots were occuring in fairly rapid succession and possibly from more than one gun so they may not have know there was only one gunman.

There were 5, actually, but one was a police trainee and three were rent-a-cops. I don't think it was the right thing to do but that would be a tough scenario to be in.

How do you think we should test to see if someone has the willpower to overcome their natura instincts?
There is simply no way of knowing what anyone would do in that situation. And you can sit here and pound your chest all you want, but I promise you have zero idea what you’d do if you were in that situation.
You know what you SHOULD do. And what you WANT to do. But your natural instincts have a funny way of saying nope. Not today buddy.
If you figure out how to screen for this, please let the army know. They’d probably give you one hell of a Medal for figuring out what they’ve been trying to figure out for fricking ever
