One thing I noticed about the whirlpool I posted is that it is very similar to the kitchen aides that cost a good bit more. For example Most of the whirlpools have ice maker that is in the fridge but this one is in the door.

Probably gonna roll whirlpool. Builder supplies oven, dishwasher and microwave and they are all whirlpool so they’ll all match as well.

Really thinking about ordering from them. Thanks for pointing it out I’d never heard of that website. Their prices for the model we want are cheaper than anywhere else.....and that’s before you even consider the no tax part.

How was your experience? (Time? Delivery?)

Mine is about 15years old. It’s been a pretty good fridge. I’ve only had to replace the defrost heater in the freezer and the water dispenser line can freeze up. But I rarely use the water dispenser. The defrost heater was easy to fix. Amazon the part overnight and about a 20 minute change start to finish including stocking it back up.

Bought a Kenmore Elite from Sears which was built by LG. 1500.00. Lasted less than 4 years, compressor. Replaced it with a whirlpool, it sucks too but was the only size that would fit in the space I had.

I’m on my 2nd Samsung, only because Katrina took the first. Never a problem.

I'd go Whirlpool before LG for a fridge. Just remember everyone at some point has had an issue with some product.
That said, we use all KitchenAid in all our specs last 5 years and have never had a call back.

We’ve had one for 5 years now with no issues at all. My nephew’s Maytag crapped out on him in year 2. shite happens to all brands in this price point.

I see some suggesting Samsung.
Friends of mine hates their fridge.
The one we have at work is a POS. It’s falling apart after 2 years of use.

An appliance repair guy had to come fix something on our Frideaire and he said a GE Side by side is the best fridge you can if you want to keep it for 20 years.

I hope that’s correct, we just bought a GE side by side.
We replaced a 20 year old Kenmore, that is still working very well, but someone wanted a new one.

How can anything GE be usable for 20 years unless its some kind of industrial item like a gas turbine or locomotive?

Had one. It started malfunctioning after 10 years, with the ice/water dispensers getting moody about performing their function, and the fridge temperature was 50 by my thermometer one day for no reason. A few years after owning it, I called to complain about the freezer shelves spontaneously falling down, and they sent me a kit with all new shelves. You see, the freezer apparently expanded over time, and the guides on the walls no longer reliably supported the shelves. Oh, and don't ever use the crushed ice function, because you will ream out a hole on an auger bearing and break the plastic cup at the back of it, and it will no longer dispense ice at all.

While it's working, you're treated to a mini-symphony of whining noises overlaid on top of one another, including one that repeats every 20 seconds during certain cycles, which sounds like the whistling noise falling bombs make in old movies. The repair guy will tell you they can't fix it, the problem you read about in the recall doesn't apply to your model, and his tinnitus is so bad he can't hear it anyway.

God, how I hated that miserable fricking thing.

We have a Maytag side by side. I like it. Bought it in 2006 for our new house. The house came with all black appliances so the fridge was black, too.

Wish they were stainless.
