Got one in the mail. It happened in Baton Rouge. Mailing address is from Ohio. Do I have to pay this shite? Is it going to affect my credit? It’s like $117. Ridiculous

Don't pay it. They'll just put a bench warrant out or suspend your license. No big deal really.

Oh, and if you can't afford it, try stopping next time instead of running a red light.

You broke the law, pay your ticket and be done with it.

Don't pay it. They don't do anything about it. It's an "honor system" in BR

I don't know about Louisiana, but in Georgia the traffic light tickets are a civil matter, not a criminal one. There are no points on your license for them here and you can't be issued a bench warrant.

Now, a ticket for running a red light issued by an actual police officer is another matter entirely.

Serious question, how has been deemed illegal in some areas, like jefferson parish, but not others?

bullshite. No bench warrant will be issued, and they will NOT suspend your license, nor will it go on your record. It's a civil matter not a criminal.

Don't pay it.

There is no punishment for vehicle owners who ignore the notice. The city-parish doesn’t sue violators or boot their cars. The information doesn’t get reported to insurance companies or filed in police databases. It isn’t a hindrance to renewing a license, nor is it filed in driving records.

have multiple outstanding speeding and red light camera tix in Orleans, Jefferson, and EBR. Never paid a one, nothings on my record. Have been able to renew DL and get car tags this whole time. Did get some things in the mail a few times, trashed them. Bill collectors haven't called me, and nothings on my credit report b/c I just bought a truck last summer.

ETA: HOWEVER, when in Orleans, I always make sure to park upper deck in private garages b/c of Landrieu's dumb fat bitch meter maids

They'll boot your vehicle in NOLA. They don't do anything in BR. They send you a few threatening letters and eventually a notice from a lawyer but those eventually stop. My wife has gotten 3 at the same damn intersection

I paid the first one and read up on it a bit and decided to not pay the next 2. It's been a few years and nothing has happened.

Pay your ticket, scofflaw. We need the money here in BR.

Stop at all traffic lights. And get off my lawn.

BR is doing it all wrong. There should be a task force out that boot folks with unpaid camera tickets out.
