It's too crowded to really do anything other than bar hop with friends.

Looks like RDR is avoiding the Quarter

Good riddance. Why not move it to BR, so it'll be really convenient for all the frat rats?

$63 is a lot to run in public streets, wear a dress, and go to bars that anybody can go to. If they gave out drink tickets or wristband for drink specials then I can maybe see that price.

Not sure if they are doing it this year or not, but usually the ticket also includes access to the park where you can drink all you want and eat all you want and listen to live music. Not a bad deal the few times I've done it and I never even ran, just stayed in the park.

Patterson said that every year there are crashers, who merely slip into a red frock and join the rabble without paying the registration fee.

They tried to move it a couple of years ago, but the people who paid complained that they were separated from all their friends having fun on bourbon street, so they just didn't partake in the free drinks and food that comes along with paying. The following year those people didn't pay at all.

IMO, the hashers screwed up when I started hearing that the event turned into something that pays for their parties all year. The price is WAY too high for what they provide and most people don't even use.

Hmmm... I'd like to see what percentage of the money goes to putting on the event, the hashers annual budget, and then to charity.

You have to pay to participate?! I honestly did not know that...looks like I'll be wearing my red skirt and getting loaded illegally

RDR raises money for local charities. If you can't afford it, then don't go.

Crescent Park is nice but it's a good hike from where all the action on Bourbon will be

ETA: There's a lot of red dresses at Costco FWIW FYI BTW

I'd like to see them team up with Give Nola Day www.givenola.org to encourage people that don't want to run and just drink on bourbon to still give to local charities.

You literally can't run down the first few blocks of Bourbon right now due to construction

Last year, Patterson said, the roughly 4,000 registered runners raised over $100,000 for charity.

4,000 runners times $63 a runner = $252,000.

Looks like less than half makes it to a charity

It was fun when it was smaller and an actual pub run/crawl. It hasn't been fun or set up right since they moved from Ernst Cafe to the park.
