Looks like RDR is avoiding the Quarter to stay away from the free loaders.

Patterson said that every year there are crashers, who merely slip into a red frock and join the rabble without paying the registration fee.

I don't think announcing the route change was a smart idea to curb free loaders, but who knows.

It's been miserably packed the last few times I've gone. I haven't been in a few years because of that.

You have to pay to participate?! I honestly did not know that...looks like I'll be wearing my red skirt and getting loaded illegally

I went to sign up and noticed they moved it. Closed tab and never thought about it again

That's the coolest part of RDR. Cheering on the runners as they make their way through the crowds in the French Quarter.

They'll see registration lower more next year if people don't get to run down Bourbon.

It may have officially jumped the shark like the running with the bulls and a few other deals. I know a week or so ago the attendance to tales of the cocktail was down on some events.

That's a sloppy fricking day. I did it one year the day after I got my wisdom teeth out looking like a chipmunk with a bottle of Demerol tucked in my chest.

$63 is a lot to run in public streets, wear a dress, and go to bars that anybody can go to. If they gave out drink tickets or wristband for drink specials then I can maybe see that price.

Guess I will focus my attention to the Lafitte's block party on August 12...everyone will be there getting wasted instead

This year, Patterson said, registration is down, having only reached the 3,000 mark so far.

Maybe it's down from all of the assaults/robberies?

I've always thought RDR was a safer event bc the people that commit such crimes are homophobic and stay away. If they do go they will stick out like a sore thumb bc they won't wear a red dress to blend in
