There is a local guy in BR who makes mattresses for a damn good price and does an awesome job. Can't remember the name of the company though. He does it custom. I'd recommend that if anyone knows the name
I've bought several from him, I don't understand why anyone would go anywhere else.

I just remembered who your girlfriend is. Older people like me, would need a mattress that has a pee pad.

This might be hard to believe, but not everyone on this site lives in Baton Rouge. fricking blows my mind.

We had a Temperpedic and did not like it. Switched to a Hilton Hotels and it seems to work.
It's hard to tell how you will sleep on it just by laying on one in a store for 30 seconds.
Good luck with the search.

We just bought a new Serta iComfort gel memory foam - I don't remember the specific model/name but we love it.
We got our's from a close out place and got a great deal. Check around for places like that around you.
What I 100% recommend is the frame we purchased.
I have wanted an adjustable bed for ages and could never justify spending thousands of dollars. We ended up getting the Pragmatic Adjustable split king from walmart.com and I can't rave enough about it.
I have lower back issues and sleeping flat - no matter how awesome the mattress is - completes hobbles me the next day. I had been sleeping in a recliner in the sitting room/office attached to our bedroom on really bad days.
Now, I adjust my side of the bed to what is most comfortable on my back - feet/legs raised and head raised. Puts me in a "zero gravity" position so there is little to no pressure on my lower back. Until I got this bed, I didn't realize how shitty my sleep had been for years. It's amazing.
The best part? The Pragmatic adjustable split king frame was around $350 and fits perfectly into the big wooden bed we already owned. The split king - two twin XL mattresses independent from one another - allows my husband to adjust his side and me to adjust mine.
It's been a life saver.

This place that builds custom mattresses, is it on the service road off of Florida Blvd?

Just wondering what the op ended up with. I need to buy one and was debating on Casper or Bedinabox. I am worried that they may sleep too hot? How does everyone like theirs?

Seriously, try a latex mattress. Best I've ever had.
