Check again. That's exactly what I said. Must be the OT reading comp in effect.

My sister is a high end hygienist in BR and makes around 75k I think, pretty sure it doesn't get much higher then that. She's looked around and won't move because of other pay options.

I guess it sounds better to write checks for 100k than 65k

By no means am I suggesting that it is the norm for the average hygienist to pull in over $100K. I'd put the average at $60-70K. But like I said, some pull 35-40% of production instead of a set daily rate. My hygienist used to do a cleaning every 30 minutes. That's 16/day. How much do you pay for a cleaning/xrays? Do the math. (Before people complain about the quality of the service, if you hadn't had your teeth cleaned in a while and walked in with a funk mouth, you were getting a gross debridement on the first visit, then returning for a fine scale/polish in a separate visit - or returning for quadrants of root planing if necessary. And not just any hygienist is capable of that kind of production while still doing a quality job.) Now think about a hygienist working in an office with several dentists, working 2 chairs with her own asiistant...

Why are y'all arguing hygienist pay rates in a 'Who has the hottest hygienist?' thread?? Start a new fricking thread you goddamn hijackers.

I am hoping this hot hygienist thread expands the search into Gonzales and Prairieville area.

What I was getting at is that you said hygienists make $250 a day/$100K per year. However, I knew this couldn't be right since my wife makes more than $250 a day since we live in the northeast, however our bank account is coming up short because I sure as hell don't see $100K per year. Then I did the math on your numbers and realized $250 a day comes out to $65K per year. So your figure had the typical OT baller exaggeration factored into it. That's all......

Never did I say $250/day = $100K. Re-read my post...

quote:

Are you serious? Hygienists easily pull in $250-$275/day - and that's at your average small town dental office. Some have pay scales similar to dentists who are associates - 35-40% of production. On those terms in a large practice, some are making $100-125K/yr.

I said that hygienists working on a percentage of production instead of a daily rate can earn over $100K. $250/275 per day is an average daily rate (and the majority of hygienists do work for a set daily rate like this) - however, those who work on percentage of production can earn much higher numbers.
