The majority of BR citizens are probably happy with SWB is doing, unfortunately.

Too much apathy. Do you feel the folks in Central and Zachary care about the mayoral duties of Baton Rouge? There's a reason they left BR.

I get what you are saying, but let's not forget that she is also the president of the parish which means she also represents Central and Zachary.

The apathy you mentioned caused people not to go to the polls and thus got Broome in office. Now that's it's clear that she is a fool, people have woken up and don't want her representing them as the mayor-president.

The bottom line is that people should have shown up to the polls in the first place because it's much harder to get someone recalled than it is to keep them out of office in the first place.

But they let you vote signing two different ways. Tom Smith Tommy Smith Ok to vote, wasn't ok on the petition even though handwriting was exact

Because your identity is verified by two different poll workers and your identification. Signing the recall petition, is not.

dude wasted his time trying to cater to a block of voters that never were going to vote for him ayway, should have run as the anti-Broome.

didn't get why the field was so shitty from the start though

Too little. Too late. The "terrorist" comment is why I voted for Bodi White. Delgado is late to the game.

If it were to even get close (and by close, I mean within 60,000-70,000 signatures) they'd start using every means, fair or foul, to get signatures thrown out right and left. It's what they did with St. George.

Despite what he's done in the past, Delgado is the only person of note who's spoken out on behalf of the white residents of BR.

All the more reason not to trust the douche. You can't trust a chameleon.

Dude is trying so hard to stay relevant. He's just a different shade of Gravy.

Well, is there ANYONE on the mayor's staff who has brains enough to help Baton Rouge make it through what inevitably will be a nasty hurricane season?

Ok yall, lets be real. In 2016 there were 81,673 registered republican voters in EBR. So getting everyone single registered republican to sign and you barely make it.

But less than 1/2 of those votes (38,754) voted in the December 2016 election. Even if you got 70% of all registered republicans to sign you would still need at least 1/3 of all the independents in the parish to sign as well. And get all of those signatures verified.

Short of an unprecedented, historic, improbable effort this recall is simply a PR, political exercise. I get why, plus this is America so the organizers have every right to go for it, but lets all be honest, this won't happen.

Not saying that I don't agree that Broome's rhetoric is dangerous, but she's doing exactly what she campaigned that she would do.

I'm sorry to disagree, but you're statement is simply not true. While she announced her intent to replace Dabadie from the beginning, the main platform of her campaign was unity and inclusiveness. She claimed the desire to bring the people of EBR parish together, reduce crime, improve schools and infrastructure, continue downtown BR's progress, and bring new businesses to EBR parish. She presented herself as a business-friendly moderate in the mold of her predecessor, Kip Holden. Bodi White expressed his desire to basically defund downtown BR and use more tax payer dollars outside of the city limits. Just as residents of Central and Zachary might not care about downtown BR; people who live within the city limits may not want their taxpayer dollars spent elsewhere. That's why Broome got a percentage of the white vote, that and the fact that Bodi came off as an idiot in the mayoral debates.

Broome took a hard BLM turn in the runoff in order to win over voters who had supported Marcelle in the primary.

Exactly

Just warning people to reesrch their sigs because they have to be exact to how they registered ten, twenty or even forty years ago.

Unfortunately, I agree with SPEEDY. NO WAY this happens and if it does, you thought Alton Sterling protests were bad? I'd predict a smaller scale 1992 Watts. This would be a HUGE story -- the biggest racial one of the year.

The good news is St. George will happen. So, if the mayor wants to be divisive and a jackass, then she will own a double-edged shite sword. If you wanna play #BLM and cater to Gravy all day, then you are just begging for not only a St. George, but a St. Peter, St. Paul, and St. Whitey as well.

SWB needs to either keep her race-baiters caged or make a huge move on COA. You can't alienate your biggest tax base.
