Younger white guys and older black ladies.

We are playful with each other to a fault.

It isn't flirting. There's something unspoken.

On my side, a respect for them that transcends the social norms. And on their side, motherly and yet playful.

Even when watching travel and food shows, it's evident no matter the host or the location.

I've always wondered... What is the origin of the dynamic? Have you ever encountered it yourself?

I'm going to assume you're either dirty blonde hair or 50lbs overweight

When I was in college, I worked briefly with a black woman in her late 30's to early 40s named Greta.

She was a bit of a big girl but she had a swagger to her. As far as she was concerned she was sexy as frick and it definitely drew guys to her.

She used to mess with me... Striking a pose... Hey SG, you think you could handle this?

I don't know Greta, but I sure as hell wouldn't go down without a fight.

Except she hates him. Despises him.

I hope all of these black ladies who cut up with don't hate me

This is so true and good topic. I always assume they’re like that with everyone but yes now that you mention it, older black ladies I interact with I have an inner playful respect for and I feel a likewise playful nice treatment from.

There is a truth to this. No other segment of the population has hit on, or flirted with me more than older black women.

This is a topic I'm actually interested in. I sort of thought it was just me, but now I'm thinking it's a Southern thing.

I live in Philly. My..I guess "girlfriend" (no pics...sorry guys) and I enjoy going out several times a week to different bars and restaurants across the city. Many times we uber, and often it's older black women. We've also come across 10-15 older black women in bars. 90% of the time I find myself striking up a conversation with them very easily, and by the end of it, they're telling my girlfriend they "know men" and she better not ever let me go. And usually the whole time we have our arms around each other's shoulders or laughing and touching each other's arms, etc. My girlfriend always comments "It's so shocking to me how much black women love you."

She's also a bartender at an upscale bar in our area and all of the kitchen staff are black. I shoot the shite and go out with those guys some times and she doesn't get how I'm so cool with them either.

I personally think growing up in the South has helped different races learn to speak to each other because of slavery. We have interactions with the black culture every day and they have interactions with the white culture every day. We live in a world where media and politics want to paint a picture of diversity, but from what I've seen, the diversity is up here. I live in Old City Philadelphia where about 99% of my surroundings are white. The black population lives below or above certain lines, and it's almost like they've been kept there. I can point to you on a map and literally show you where the clusters are. It's actually shocking, absolutely zero diversity. My "girlfriend" grew up in the suburbs and knew less than 10 black people prior to going to college.

I somewhat rambled, but this was very interesting to me because I've thought about this a lot.

Idk where it comes from, but I know what you're talking about and it's real(and I love it).

Get me around an older black lady or group of them and we'll be cuttin' up and laughing in no time.

They just seem to have an infectious glee about them that I vibe with really easily and enjoy.

It goes like this.. it is what it is as they say to get the cliches out of the way

I grew up with an everyday housekeeper named Nora.. she was a wonderful woman.. my parents paid her well and put two of her grandkids through college. I always used mam and treated her with the outmost respect.. I’ve since carried that over to my adult life and down to my children.. It carries over to all demographics, if you work, you deserve respect

Something there for sure. I'm white, 42, 4 kids. I'm seem to draw comments and convos from black women, old and young, mostly commenting on my blue eyes and curly hair. I always show respect with addressing them, holding doors, etc.
