Can't tell if you're that stupid or a troll

But if other people did worse things than me and didn't get in trouble how can I be in trouble????

I'll go shoot three people tomorrow, and my lawyer may get me off the hook. If I get off the hook, you should try the same. You can't get in trouble if I dont, right?

We let firms with powerful litigators simply pay fines after laundering drug cartel money and fraudulently rating toxic debt, but this guy deserves three years in the clink while his family goes destitute.

I actually kind of agree with this. They should be heavily fined, assets seized, etc. Then deport Joe's a** back to Italy if he's here illegally.

I don't want a cent of my tax dollars going to jail these people for a non-violent crime. Their crimes were financial in nature, punish them financially. That bag Theresa becoming poor and destitute is satisfaction enough for me.

Enron went bankrupt almost thirteen years ago.

This would be like a Raiders fan talking about the winning their franchise is accustomed to, since they contended for titles thirteen years ago.

DOJ is on record stating we shouldn't prosecute these mega companies any longer, as it is simply bad for everyone. So the moral of the story is: if you're powerful and big enough, you can break laws with impunity.

Two crimes of the exact same type, both cases with stunning proof of fraud; why is one prosecuted while the other is not?

That is the anti-thesis of American Criminal Justice.

And you're calling me stupid?

ok so what is the appropriate amount of time to compare things to? 1 yr, 5 yrs, 10 yrs?

Its fine to have a problem with that. Did they say they would stop prosecuting individuals? Still trying to figure out why its wrong for them to prosecute individuals. You should be happy they are and mad they aren't going after companies...you don't just say well frick lets let all the individuals get away with it also.

Quite similar allegations on a more grand scale were rampant throughout the financial crisis and subprime fallout, why was no jail time dished out there except for a few lackeys and small players?

DOJ and Eric Holder doing work.

Appropriate time

Good question.

Why don't we look at the time since that case, and let's look at how the government has dealt with mega players since then. It seems the pattern is to avoid prosecution at all costs because of the economic impact involved, since Enron showed us that destroying a company can have, what Eric Holder defines as 'Collateral Consequence'

Several million dollars will be spent on bringing these two to justice.

You sound like someone with no accountability.

These two got off easy with a staggered sentence.

What baffles me is that apparently stupid people like Joe Gorga and his bafflingly dumb sister sit in multi-million dollar homes and live multi-million dollar lives.

I mean...these people are technical morons. But they've figured out a way to become wealthy.

If these dumb assholes can be wealthy then surely we all can figure out how to become wealthy, right?

I work hard and have a plan to be financial secure at a young age. However, I'm not yet "wealthy" in my mid 30s.

That frickhead Joe Gorga seems to be loaded. All of those douchebags seem to be weathly, and most of them have an accumulative IQ of 75.

I don't get it.

They seem to be wealthy, but they're not as wealthy as they seem. That's why he'll rot in prison.

He didn't figure anything out.

I would have no problem with any of what they got if that was the standard that was evenly applied. If I sound like a person with no accountability, what do those going unscathed due to their systemic importance sound like?

Back to your hypothetical of killing a man -- let's say you did try that, but instead of killing him you only beat him to within an inch of his life, and he will recover. Now let's say another man viciously beats your friend and killed him in the same location, under the same set of laws, and investigated and prosecuted by the same set of people.

I take it that you're okay with getting more time than the man who killed your friend?

I'm not talking about the Guiddices (sp?). I'm talking about every other couple on that show.

They seem like true morons, yet they live like money is simply flowing out of the faucet.

a lot of that is Bravo script writing. Bravo gets paid to place high-end items in the show. It's basically one big commercial.

So the new homes that these people are building on this season are fake? They aren't really building new homes?

Why are you going full retard when this is a pretty simple tax evasion/fraud case?

Wouldn't be surprised if Bravo just rents the houses for filming.

So were several of the others to which I referred.

Here is a quote from one of the prosecutors:
quote:

"Prison is the appropriate penalty for these serious financial crimes,” said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman after the sentencing.

If a desire for even application of law is full retard, what is the acceptance of openly uneven and arbitrary application of law?
