people dying from this
You have raw numbers for this? Our local hospital has announced 12 COVID cases, with none in ICU. So where are these bodies piling up with Delta variant? Our 14 parish area is reporting ZERO increases in deaths.

10900 deaths / 482560 cases = 2.3% death rate = 97.7% survival rate, which is exactly what I wrote above;
I would have to assume that's the number of diagnosed cases?
What would you reasonably assume to be the number of people who had Covid but were never diagnosed as having it?

Based on LDH data from today.
Vaccinated people are 7 times less likely to test positive for covid during this delta surge. This equates to 86% efficacy.
Vaccinated are 5 times less likely to be hospitalized. This equates to 80% efficacy. This rate and efficacy would be better when normed for the high rate of people most at risk for hospitalizations being vaccinated.
The numbers from today’s press said in the last week 7.3% of new cases were vaccinated people. 10% of hospitalizations were vaccinated and 9% of deaths were vaccinated. So once being infected with the virus the vaccinated are being hospitalized and dying at a higher rate than unvaccinated, otherwise the hospitalization and death percentages would be the same or less than rate of infection, 7.3%.
If the theory is that the vaccinated are more likely to be people in the high risk category, then that could explain this, but I would like to see definitive data on this, otherwise we are just assuming.

Trump lost, I’m not getting into you with it about that, but that attitude is why some people aren’t getting the vaccine. Let’s talk about the POC or whatever the media decides to call them today that aren’t getting the vaccine.

And he knew his “MAGA people” weren’t huge pussies afraid of a disease with a 99% survival rate.
So why are they afraid of a vaccine with 99.999999% survival rate?

quote:That is the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospital's figure for "Total Cases", which is the sum of "Confirmed" and "Probable" cases; see the LDHH covid webpage for the current day's numbers. As I understand it, the "Probable" cases were never actually tested, but a doctor or other public health professional concluded that some specific individual probably had covid--FWIW.quote:I would have to assume that's the number of diagnosed cases? My whole post was about the Louisiana data, even though that data has issues. I'm not sure how well I can "reasonably assume ... the number of people who had Covid but were never diagnosed as having it". A good answer would require periodic antibody tests across a good-size, random sampling of the population, which was never done. But my own personal guess is that maybe Louisiana has had somewhere around twice as many people actually have covid as LDHH's "Total Cases" figure. If my guess is about right, then the total Louisiana fatality rate would be about 1.1% and the corresponding survival rate would be about 98.9%.
So as the desert philosopher Pappagallo put it so eloquently in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, "Well, what does all that mean?" It means:
99.9% survival rate would mean 1 in 1000 chance of death;
98.9% survival rate would mean 1 in 89 chance of death; and
97.7% survival rate would mean 1 in 44 chance of death.
In my book, that first survival rate figure--the one in the post to which I was responding--is very different from the the second survival rate (using our new fudge factor) and the third (my original figure), and the second and third are more similar to each other.

The people telling us to get the vaccine were eerily silent during last year’s riots, while at the same time saying people couldn’t gather at churches or with families due to the risk of spreading covid.
These same people have nary a peep to say about the hordes of illegal immigrants crossing our border everyday bringing who knows what into the country.
They never discuss the possibly adverse effects to the vaccine.
They paint the picture of uneducated Trump supporters not getting the shot and ignore the fact that many minorities aren’t getting it either.
Facebook and IG won’t allow critical debate on the vaccine.
And isn’t it convenient that this variant and the anti-vax shaming started after Joe didn’t meet his July 4th target?
They can keep their needle and their propaganda.

shite. My day started with a doctor's visit at a hospital where I wore my mask because there are legit some seriously at risk people there. I'm not a dirt human and don't frick with those people and their health. I try to help.
After that, though, once amongst the healthy, I had no mask, I ate two fantastic meals, I drank with morbidly obese people, and I got more than one phone number of an actual live woman who might let me put a body part in one of her body parts. I had, in general, a great time amongst people who have evaluated their own risk tolerance and act appropriately.
I can't agree with you more. Turn off the mass media and quit watching and listening to the propaganda of people who want to subjugate you. Then, just live.

At this rate they should just tell the anti-vaxxers they’re on their own. If they get sick, don’t clog up the hospitals, just deal with it. After all it’s no big deal.

Clogging up hospitals?
I guess fatties and smokers and the list goes on shouldn't be admitted for Heart Disease or Cancer since those are caused by behaviors too. I guess if they want to drink 40oz cokes and eat McDonald's year round don't stress our healthcare system. Tell em just deal with it.

And isn’t it peculiar how our leaders aren’t lecturing people to get in shape and lose weight as a way to combat covid? Almost like they don’t want people thinking about all the processed garbage and corn syrup that they are consuming.
Instead, being overweight is being celebrated.
If these people were serious, they would make a mass push for healthy choices which would reduce co-morbidities and probably do more than all the daily wearing of mostly dirty masks.
In reality, they don’t want you thinking about that too much.
‘Get the shot and you can stay dumb and fat.’

Hillary Clinton who was probably the worst presidential candidate of all time got more votes than Trump, think about that.
I understand that she lost because of the electoral college, but still, that's pretty incredible that trump couldnt even win the popular vote over her. He was never nearly as popular as Rebublicans make him out to be, sure he is adored like a rock star by 30% of the voting population but he is absolutley hated by 40% of it.

Cause the CDC is a liar, the only reason you are hearing about a surg is because they want the money from people getting a vaccine! Total BS

What does any of that have to do with the fact that poor people especially non white poor people aren’t getting the vaccine?
