All but hidden in the link was this gem
quote:
Chaos broke out at times. A car with a man inside, apparently shot, drove into the crime scene. That man was taken away on a stretcher by paramedics.

I understood that, although I can see where my posts could be taken that I did not. Should’ve said who is the coacaine and weed crews in all of this

Yuh I believe it’s always been Gottis family who’s been running drugs through the city. Dolph used to be a weed kingpin there back from like the mid 2000s until he blew up back in like 2016. The only rappers who have ever actually been true “Kingpins” were Dolph, Young Scooter (cocaine kingpin of Atlanta), Maxo Kream (drug and crip overlord of Houston), and Jay-Z back in the day

A “true kingpin” is Pablo Escobar, not some rapper selling weed in Memphis or Jay Z selling coke and crack in the projects.

Relax, we weren’t wanting to make it into a movie or tv series and portray any of them to be a boss. But from what I’ve read, these different groups run the cocaine and weed game around Memphis. Maybe I’m wrong, never claimed to have much street cred. No one is making them out to be a true cartel kingpin or anything

There used to be a great motorcycle shop in that area. A buddy of mine bought his Husqvarna motocross bike there. Time marches on.

I didn’t say anything like that
just commenting on the guys post calling them kingpins and thought it was a funny word to use

Craig Petties was a true kingpin from Memphis who was finally caught in Mexico with one of the cartels. His brother is DJ Paul of Triple 6, it might not be too much of a stretch that a few rappers themselves make it that high in the game

I actually think I used kingpin also, but I don’t mean a true kingpin. I was mostly being a little sarcastic about it.

Yeah. But it’s got nothing in Chicago. I stumbled upon the Chiraq subreddit (I know, I know) one day and ended up down a wormhole I wasn’t prepared for. It’s like a whole other species of people there.
Weeks ago I stumbled upon the YouTube version of that Reddit. If you ever have 2 hours to yourself and you want to see just how crazy and wretched Chicago is, watch that video. It's not just the ganglife, but Hip Hop culture is intertwined.
Kids as young as 15 and 16 are out committing murders. Then they literally make a song bragging about killing said person and post it online.

I think Chicago is definitely worse, but Memphis is a fricked up place as well. Everybody there is looking to either kill you or rob you, most of the time both.
