Nikon 50mm F/1.8G

Nikon 35mm F/1.8G

Would any of these be good for a first lens to buy? I want to do some bokeh shots. Additionally, what's the difference between these two? One is a 50mm and the other is a 35mm. Is it just the amount of light that comes in?

The 50 would do you better because it is not as wide angle. The 50 is a great portrait lens. The 35 is more of a landscape lens but can be used as a portrait lens, you will just have to super close to you subject. The best "must have" lens is probably the 70-200 2.8mm.

I have two lenses I use 95% of the time, the 70-200 2.8 and the 24-70 2.8.

My main subjects will be my twin infants. I'd probably get a larger zoom later when they are older and we travel more.

The ground is distorted in both of these because I was in a moving vehicle.

Considering where you live, I figured if you posted in here you'd have some outstanding shots. Those are awesome.
