Yep otherwise there was Tom Snyder or some other boring crap with someone talking about their latest autobiography.

Tom Snyder was a cult figure. Best laugh in TV history.

I’m guessing he was on that drug cocktail for a while, and died of other causes, unless he purposely ODed.

I loved to hear Art Bell back in the day. Coast to Coast was never the same without him. Sorry to hear he's gone.

Why is this written like this? Both are opioids.

Why did they label oxy as an opioid but not hydro? They are both opioids. The word opioid is used as a fear tactic by the media these days so it makes whatever sound so bad because opioid=what's killing everyone. Truth is hydrocodone can and will kill you and tons of people get hooked on hydro or start their journey to heroin with hydros.

I've noticed this with other things too. Newscasters labeling fentanyl and heroin as opioids (which is is) and then talk about "prescription vicodin" like it's not just as addictive

I’m assuming he was on OxyContin or oxycodone ER. Why not use Percocet or oxycodone IR for the breakthrough pain med, instead of hydrocodone?

OD at 72 isn't nearly as sad as regular young people ODs. I mean, Art Bell was the shite and all but at 72 most people are lucky they aren't already dead

This was not a accidental overdose by someone with a drug problem, it was a planned suicide, he had a lot of health issues and like a lot of older folks in that situation he decided to end everything on his own terms. I have a pretty long list of elderly people I have known that after receiving the news that their quality life would be rapidly declining ODed on painkillers.

Wish I had Art to listen to right now here on the graveyard shift. The sounds of Bigfoot or the recorded audio of people in Hell. Aliens abducting people or the sounds of ELF hums.

Shite was downright frightening at night. How art didn’t go crazy interviewing those guests is beyond me.

Absolutely. Used to listen to him until 4AM pulling all-nighters in college.

Was hanging out with a sometimes-syndicated radio host one time and mentioned my love for Art Bell. He said Art started as a regular news talk show host, but when you get moved to overnights you get all kinds of crazy callers. Art was smart enough to see the potential untapped audience and make an art form.

This. I would listen to phil hendrie and then art bell came after. I would fall asleep during the news segment on coast.
