or is it an issue because we've taken the minority of incidents and focused on them?

Seems in my everyday life that I do not see racism as a large problem. However, I am sure people may feel it, are these feelings real or imagined?

Does it exist because it is still a big problem or is it a small minority problem that gets blown up by the media?

It's great at dividing people. Dividing people is how you control them. That's why it's still an issue.

Just because you don't see it in your life in podunk louisiana doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

It's alive and well in large cities throughout the country. On both sides of the fence.

It exists because of the extremes. Middle ground doesn't exist anymore.

It's currently being abused in order to gain FREE things in life. Once you are given things for free, you tend to expect more and more for free. The cycle has started and it will not stop. Americans over time will leave this country just as Europeans left from Europe. (different reason of course) This will happen over a long course but it will happen.

Good human beings strive to work for better but eventually giving away more than being able to keep will be unbalanced.

Well this doesn't make much sense since I consider myself part of Baton Rouge, I mean that is where I was raised and spend most of my time.

Seems it is more of a minority and certain individuals on both sides want to turn incidents that are not racially motivated into incidents that are racially motivated.

I mean in "podunk" Louisiana I would expect it to be alive and well such as parts of Livington Parish, Assumption Parish, St. Tammany parish, Iberia Parish, St. Mary parish, etc....

From our perspective, which I think is more accurate that inaccurate, it is a farce. That doesn't mean that 15 year old black kids in the ghetto don't "feel" it in a way that seems real, however. I imagine it's hard in that environment to separate yourself from your circumstances and objectively view the situation.

I'm not sympathizing with rioters, I'm just saying it's probably more of a challenge than some realize. Some of these folks live with family telling them that their plight is the white community's fault, teachers telling them that, mayors and Presidents telling them that, clergy, etc.

And without diversity man will make up another reason to dislike one another. Religion, language, culture, it's human nature.

Racism is an overused term.

Prejudice is what we see more readily.
