At work, it's kept on MSNBC (I know). They were actually saying it should be a double hate crime (for racism and against disability.

I was told by a friend that this is the official definition in the context of sociology. At least according to some. Doubt there would ever be complete consensus on something like this. But yes, this definition is printed in text books that are used to teach college level courses.

That's a bit misleading. Sociology textbooks define "institutional racism" like that (Jim Crow or Apartheid). They didn't redefine personal racism like a lot of BLM people like to say. That's still the old Webster's definition which doesn't make exceptions for people based on their race.
I did some research into it after having some very frustrating conversations.
But yeah, anyone who says that is misinformed or disingenuous.
