Do not pick up a cigarette and put it into your mouth no matter how badly you want it. I had zero luck with patches potions or pills.

I used to grab a cigarette socially, while drinking, or when stressed at work, but I could go months without touching them. Never been addicted to anything, so maybe I just dont get it. But my mother in law smokes and I just want to slap some sense into her sometimes. She's been "trying to quit". Taken pills, used patches, but still thinks she somehow has to "ween" herself off of it. She so proud when she's down to 4 cigarettes a day, but in the 8 years we've been together, it's about 4 times she's done this. She can never completely just not put a cigarette in her mouth. I don't think she really wants to quit. Just reducing the amount keeps a pack around and you are never going to be able to kick it. Like you said, you have to fight every single urge and not just be happy that you've reduced.

I did some research on the book and I couldn't find any negative reviews, so I ordered it. It was only $13 which is much cheaper than spending more money on patches or gum.

Quit smoking 8 years ago after 20 years, i had the same problem i gained 70 pounds. Finally started vaping at home and have lost 15 over the last year. Took a COPD test to see if my lungs were damaged and its perfect. But the weight gain has caused a lot of problems( sleep apnea, hypertension). The weight gain can harm you as much or more than the smoking, ive seen some really old smokers , very few old obese people.

You smoked 2.5-3 packs per day? Congrats on the quitting. That's awesome

I quit 8+ years ago. I was about a pack a day for a long time. I used the patch and changed some of my daily routines. It helped that I started a new job in a new town, so I didn't have any rituals.

I still miss it occasionally. I freakin loved tobacco, in all forms. I have touched any in 8+ years.

I do plan on starting back when I hit 70 years old. I was good at it.
