Thinking I need to leave the comfort and monotony if a desk job and want to see the country.

Was hoping people with commercial driving experience could convince me whether or not to do it.

Stories welcome. I mostly hear about the hookers, blow, and hitchhikers.

It's hard to text and drive safely. I'll let you know in 8 hours.

Reality is that it will be the same feeling as sitting at your desk all day except now you get to do it while littler desk cut in front of you at 80 mph and you dont get to go home at night.

look forward to gaining more weight from truck stop food.

I know a couple of long haul drivers for UPS who are very happy with their jobs. Go for it. Be sure to invest in some circulation improving leg wraps so you don't develop a blood clot from being on the road.

Driving an 18 wheeler through Baton Rouge traffic is one of the worst things I can imagine.

If you mean cross country 18-wheeler Driver It all sounds good until you realize you sleep in you office. You are away from home for days on end but only get paid for the 10 hours a day while you are driving. Not for me.

I recently watched a YouTube video of a trucker explaining his pay. He never turned down a load his company offered unless he new of bad weather in the area that would cause traffic issues. He was gone for weeks at a time. And if memory is correct he was on track to make about 60,000$ a year.

Seems stressful to me with all the dumb assholes on the road texting and driving. Matter of time before it all ends in a great fireball of death.

I drove to cell towers all over La, MS, and AL. Not the most extravagant cities ever, but seeing some of different areas really lets me know how much dick Nola actually sucks.

Some drivers have to load and unload if there isn’t a fork lift. So that’s fun. Also driving in metro areas and through traffic or on bridges can be nightmares.

Shitty hotels with cum stains
Shitty food
And unloading for small companies?

No thanks. But good luck.

I couldn't do it myself. I love getting and seeing new places. But I hate long drives, and would hate a job that requires that piss tests. It's the main thing that's kept me away from industrial work.

My best friend is a 18 wheeler driver over 48 States. Worst job ever!

Only paid by the mile
Averages 45K year
Not paid for down time loading and unloading.
All intestate and truck stops
25 days on 5 off
You are 20+ hours a day in the cab of a truck driving or sleeping. It’s like a jail cell.
No chance for a relationship or family.

He fricking hates it! About to change jobs

Yeah after sitting behind the wheel every day for hours on end, you’d be dying to smoke a bowl. But I guess the way around that is to do cocaine or something that leaves the system quick.

I’d probably consider doing that if I was out of other viable options.

I think I’d apply to NOPD before doing that though. I worked in logistics for about a year and truckers are treated like shite. Expected to meet impossible timelines, and you have illegals that will haul what you’ll haul for a third of the price.

Look I was raised in the passenger seat of a truck. Had to catch a flight home to make the first day of sixth grade. All I wanted to do was live that life. I graduated high school and drove for several years. Forget that!!! It's nowhere the same as it use to be. I got a degree and got a govnt job. But still kept my cdls
