Or how much he paid for the property and how much land it was.

2k for an acre. 2k for the septic.

1600 for the well, 180'

Gonna blow your mind even more. We had to work on our own cars too. I know it, unbelievable.

Well, frick. I’ve worked on a ‘76 Thunderbird before they started putting computers in them.

What post-90s car that’s run by computers can you just work on by hand, Roger? You gaslighting frick.

And you had 4k from a part time high school job in the 1970's.

Let's assume you made double minimum wage and made something like $4/hr. That means you made 4k a year, before taxes and expenses. If you worked all 4 years of high school and saved every single penny and somehow didn't pay taxes, you had 16k.

And spent 4k just on land and septic. And had a car. And had food to eat.

Do you not see how stupid this is?

Don’t forget the $1600 he spent on the well.

He had to have chopped down trees to build his home.

Nah, all the money I saved from working since I was 14. Things a girl like yourself wouldn;t understand. Oh, to further blow your mind, I also played ball during the school year and worked part time.

Well cars were slightly more simple, no?

Then your generation decided they needed fancier more complex cars.

The computers actually help. Back in the day we had to use the "Sun Engine Analyzer," which was analogous to a slide rule.

Almost as good as the one where you lie your arse off about pulling yourself up by your imaginary bootstraps to try to claim a younger generation is “lazy” because they didn’t do it like “you” did.

shite my BIL is currently rebuilding an old Porsche, but that is because his uncle took his inheritance and built a very nice garage with no doubt $100,000s in equipment at his home. Oh, and modern cars require far more than just basic mechanical know how- you need the technical computer diagnostics to really be able to do much.
