I miss those days of wearing sweat pants and my robe all day, everyday.

Hell my boss said he doesn't care if I frick around during the day, just get my stuff done on time, and make sure I'm paying attention to Teams on my phone in the case we have to respond to something quickly.

Do you have to get dressed and log in at a certain time each morning and do some sort of video conference call with your boss?

Yes.

Nah, if I slacked off it would be apparent. They know I get my shite done.

It has its advantages

Unfortunately my wife doesn’t see it as me “working”. She has this thing where she expects me to cook, do laundry, etc just because I’m home

Do you just roll out of bed, first start checking TD then start checking emails, voicemails and text messages, etc?

This

I gotta take my kids to school, so I usually start early when I get home.

But if no school or summertime, I wake up at 0845, brush teeth and start my day at 0850. I just wear whatever clothes I usually wear around my house. I keep my polos or pullovers or whatever in my office and just throw something on each time I have a Zoom call.

No checking in with anyone, come and go as I please.

At first I thought it was amazing and I wanted to WFH forever. After a year, meh. My role depends on me establishing relationships, building trust, and checking in on those people. Doing that via Zoom not only takes more effort, but flat out isn’t as natural or effective. It’s frustrating, I’m ready for the world to go back to the way it was if that’s possible at this point

I'm the exact opposite. My role results in no one wanting to hear from me, scared of why I'm calling them, and avoiding me at all costs.

This is more our style. My wife and I work together in IT and frequently get calls in the middle of the night for prod issues or incidents.

If it was a quite night, I’ll usually roll out of bed, let the dogs out, fix coffee then log in around 8ish.

If we had something go bump in the night, it pretty much depends on my schedule that day. Meeting at 9? I’ll jump online around then. Nothing? Just kinda whenever we’re ready to get the day started. Both of our teams are flexible and don’t care as long as we get shite done.

Both the old lady and I aren’t in careers that we log into computers and work from home
So we don’t see eachother until the end of the day

I get up around seven
Get outta bed around nine
And I don't worry about nothin' no
'Cause worryin's a waste of my, time

As far as what I get done,
I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before

I'd make it work if it meant that I could live wherever I wanted. Ultimately I'd prefer a hybrid approach where I go to the office a few days per week and WFH the other days.

I have a 4pm video call with our team every day. Have been doing them since March. That’s the only routine thing about my work schedule.

WFH is getting a little old. I'm in software and I miss my office routine and seeing colleagues.
