Questions for those who had the Rona (Update: Tested positive)

Getting tested tomorrow.
Started running fever NYD as did the Mrs.
Day 2- Taste and smell in tact but fever is running 100-102. Occasional headache. I did have a tickle in my throat in the beginning but it is almost resolved.
The wife is doing much better but she has a cough and I don't.
Did you lose small/taste? If so, when?
What was your experience with it the first 3 days?
I am 55 and figure the odds are in my favor if it is the Rona. I just want to know what to expect.

I lost smell 7 days after testing positive, so about 9 days after symptoms started. Never lost taste but still haven’t regained smell 6 weeks later.

I lost taste and smell about 4 days after symptoms started. First sign was a runny nose, then chills and muscle aches about two days after symptoms started.
Got both smell and taste back after about 10 days from symptoms starting

Thanks!
I have heard it is sooner. I am hoping I have the elusive Flu.

Didn't completely lose smell or taste but they were dulled (looking back). Probably 4-5 day was when it started but came back by the 10th day of illness for me. But I had a relatively mild case all told.
quote:Never had a fever (highest recorded was 99.4 F), had leg pain early (soreness and couldn't find a comfortable position), drainage/congestion, and occasional cough (some productive), and finally I was tired (could sleep 10 hours at night and fall asleep the following afternoon too).

This virus is so weird. I thought taste and smell were connected. I guess I am wrong.

Lost taste and smell on oct 31. Taste is back now but still not the same. Some things like for instance diet coke, don't taste the same. Same with some foods. I still cannot smell. My case was really bad at times. It sucked. Hopefully I don't catch that shite again. Keep hydrated. I drank liquid iv once a day when I wasn't throwing up and also a myhy at night. I took Zofran every 6 hours for 4 days for nausea. Hydration is the key.

Here’s something even weirder. The only way i can smell anything is to taste the air, like a snake. I smelled smoke that way. Apparently there are some olfactory receptors in your mouth. Well, mine anyway. And it’s not like my nose is congested, so that’s not it.

I lost taste and smell after 7 days but it was back within a few weeks. It is a weird disease that seems to effect a lot of people differently. I was sick for 2 weeks. And the last few days were terrible headaches.

Had exactly what you have. Fever mainly, some congestion but no loss of taste or smell. Took 10 days to shake fever.

I lost smell about a week in. Never lost taste. I'll let you know when I get smell back. It's been a couple weeks. I have two kids under two, so I'm not missing my sense of smell during diaper changes.
Overall, my experience was a bad sinus infection with an unrelenting headache. Lingering cough still. Not pleasurable, but not near as bad as some.

27yo 165lb lean
active lifestyle, workout most days of the week
started with a light cough like i was coming down with allergies or a cold
had a fever for a day and a half
lost smell on day 3
came back 5 or so days later
never experienced any breathing difficulties
The flu knocked me out for a week, covid knocked me out for 2 days
i'd take the covid over the flu anytime

No, but the GF did. I had a fever and ache one night for a cpl hours, after that just a headache like a sinus infection that got better after I got a Z pack and steroid from the Doc.

Currently at 9 days without taste and smell. Lost it on day 2 of symptoms.
Some basic taste is back, like I can tell difference between sweet or salty. 0% smell has returned, which is most key for taste
Not sure how long it will last, but I am down 6 pounds in 9 days

Mine started on a Tuesday with sneezing and sniffling and a runny nose and by Friday morning I started to lose taste and smell and by Friday evening, taste and smell were completely gone. Sinus headaches are nothing new for me but I did have one and I never noticed any fever.
