Just go to a Cavendar's and try them on. Jesus.

Been thinking of trying a pair of Tecova camans but haven't pulled the trigger yet

Their ad keeps popping up on my FB feed and I am tempted to try them as well.

However inconvenient, it's worth your time to go and try them on.

I went to Cavenders a few years ago bound and determined to drop 300+ on some Lucchese ropers. Tried on the Ariats and bought them instead due to fit.

I do own a pair of Lucchese alligators, and the fit and craftsmanship is great.

You just can't wear exotics on a daily basis.

Unless you are a pretentious North Carolinian.

Have a pair of 7 year old Ariat Heritage Roughstocks that are still going strong. Only thing I've replaced is the insoles. Damn good boots.

Mine (leather) ran narrow. I have to keep those wood-block boot stretchers in them.

I've given up on Lucchese. I've had everything from the 1883 line, Lucchese 2000, Lucchese Classics...their new boots just aren't as comfortable anymore.

Currently rotating between a pair of M.L. Leddy ostrich, JB Hill calfskin, Tecovas ostrich and a random pair of Rod Patrick bisons.

I have to say, next to my JB Hill's, the Tecovas might be my favorite pair of everyday boots. I was skeptical at first, but the guys that own the shop are class acts and the boots themselves are sharp looking and mighty comfortable.

Any comments on the different materials? Calf vs Ostrich vs Goat

You answered your own question. Ostrich are the GOAT. Mine are 12 years old, I wear daily in the winter, and they still look brand new. True to size, tough, durable, my favorite pair of shoes.

Ended up trying on several pair and going with the ivory bone goat skin. Thanks again for the replies.

I plan on eventually buying a pair of custom Leddys.

Just picked up 2 pair of Tony Lama ostrich skin boots to rotate in with my regular Dan Posts.
