what was the problem with the AC? I fix my own AC most of the time but have never went more than a day or two before I could get it repaired when I couldnt get to it.

You should ask for $780.

I'd like to hear everyone thoughts on this.
I have currently been out of ac for a little over 8 days. Landlord lives in Florida. I'm having to take time off from work to deal with this.

Hard to believe that someone wouldnt have that in stock locally... and even harder to believe that it would take more than a day or 2 to get it in if ordered.
I would say 4-5 days max would be a reasonable repair time had they went with a normal local contractor. That leaves you with about 2 weeks of unreasonable repair time

How long is your lease? You said you plan to stay there for another 2 years. If your lease is only one year, for example, and you raise a stink, they could decide not to renew it. Doesn't seem fair under the circumstances, but that's the way it goes, so give it some thought if you don't want to have to move, assuming you don't have 2 years left on your lease.

Compressor fried on our rental in Atlanta this summer. We had someone out there to replace it within 12 hours. Done. That's the reasonable thing to do in the south in the summer. No excuse and that home warranty stuff is total bullshite for a landlord.

Considering you are paying $1300 month to live there and not $1300 for air condition I think $325 is plenty.

Find legitimate sources/legal precedent to request more proration and send it to them with your request. You don't have a leg to stand on otherwise, especially if you didnt discuss this before hand or there's nothing in the contract other than that ambiguous terminology.
All in all, you're basically arguing over $300. Not anything to scoff at but meh. I'd consider it tuition in the college of experience, pay, and find new living arrangements.

till May. Don't care about moving, they have some even nicer condos just up the road, or I could just buy a house earlier than I wanted to. let them take the risk of getting a shithead tenant

18 days does not equal 2 weeks. If they think 1 week is the proper time for repair then they owe you for 11 days rent, not 7.

I think the better question to put the situation in context is how much would someone pay to live there with no AC?
