Does it make you feel groggy or slow the next morning?

My fiancé (she’s a big ole gal, pushing 350 lbs, you don’t want the pics) and I just moved in together about two months ago. I’ve been having trouble sleeping ever since when I used to lay my head on the pillow and be out within 5 mins and not wake up through the night.

Now, I’m falling asleep just as quickly but I wake up about three or four hours later and am basically wide awake or can’t fall back asleep for an hour or more. It’s really frustrating. I’m not stressed about anything, don’t have a lot on my mind right now, bed is comfortable and all that. I’m healthy, not overweight, no snoring or sleep apnea, never had trouble sleeping before, so what the hell?

Anyway, does the melatonin or Z-Quil make you feel groggy the next morning? I’d like to not have to take those to fall asleep but I don’t see any other options.

Yeah they make you groggy, don’t start sleep aids as it will mess up your normal sleeping behavior

Have you tried sleeping on her like a water bed?

Melatonin never made me feel groggy in the morning. It didn’t necessarily make me stay asleep all night, but it helped me fall asleep. Even if you take a milligram when you wake in the middle of the night, you will prob be fine in the morning.

Hopefully, this is just a short term thing. It took me a while to adjust when my husband & I moved in together.

No. They make it a little harder to get out of bed, but once I'm out of the bed I'm fine. I don't take them every night though. Only about once or twice a week, and I only take one small pill. I think 10mg, but not sure.

Which is odd. Pretty much any medicine that causes drowsiness knocks me out and I feel groggy for 24 hours. Opioid pain pills and melatonin are the only ones that don't.

I take it almost every night and I'm fine in the morning. I enjoy the vivid dreams

I take melatonin and don't have any groggy spells the next day.

Everyone reacts differently to it. I take melatonin with no grogginess the next morning, but it has the opposite effect on my wife. I sometimes take zzzquil too and have a little grogginess.

I've found it'd a regimen. 5mg at the same time daily without skipping days is the correct way. It's no different than any med. It's not a day 1 fix. Allow it to regulate.

You don't need sleep aids, your mind is waking you up throughout the night because subconsciously you fear that your fiance may roll on top of you and crush or suffocate you while you are sleeping.

It’s probably Jesus waking you up so you can think about why you decided to live in sin.

Can't help you, melatonin does not work for me. Some people have an adverse effect from it. It puts my mind in a state of unrest. It's like when you're asleep, but your mind is still wildly awake and functional. Leaves me tired as frick and miserable the next day. I have only ever tried it twice because of that, same effect both times.
