I'm the opposite. Once May rolls around I start dreading it knowing it's going to be swamp arse until almost Halloween.
Same for me. I'm one of the rare birds that actually enjoys the short days and gray skies. I find the winter to be incredibly peaceful, for whatever reason.
I would legit go into fits of anger during summers down south.
The amount of times I would shower before work to head to the office, take the 2-3 block walk after parking and still walk in stinking and sweating. Absolutely miserable. And like you said - that goes on for 5-6 months. No thank you.

I would trade northern Ohio winters for hot temperatures. It's always cloudy, freezing, windy and depressing. Our winters last about 5 months. Trees and grass are ugly, and you want to sit inside all day
See this is why I’d take south LA summers any day over northern winters. I don’t think I could handle the 5 months of overcast weather and freezing temps.

It gets hot and humid in the summer in WI pretty frequently and I absolutely hate it. (I'm talking 80's with high humidity)
No it doesn’t. 80’s yes, high humidity no.

Enjoy living in Southern New York/New Jersey.
I can’t stand the Napoleon syndrome fricks from the northeast and their shitty accents and annoying women. When we visited a few months ago they were few and far between

Being from new Orleans and having moved to NJ in 2006, I list my tolerance for the heat and humidity pretty quick. I don't mind the winters, but my wife is tried of them so we head south for the winter ( December to May) and have done that the last two winters.
I laugh at people up here when they complain about the humidity being like 60%.
I will say this, having been in New Orleans for Katrina, and Hoboken for Sandy. I will take losing power up here in a heartbeat. We had a snow a few days after Sandy and it's easier to put on more clothes and blankets than tolerating the heat after Sandy.

When I was 28 I moved to Cleveland from SE La. The first couple of winters were exciting for me and their is nothing like sitting in front of a roaring fireplace watching a gentle snow fall out your window.
There is also nothing like being 5 months in to a frigid winter with no end in site. I had opening day tickets to the Indians and the game got snowed out with 7 inches of snow. frick that.
I'll take the heat.

He said everyone gets doe-eyed over snow until it turns black and you are shoveling that shite.
BINGO. They romanticize it. I can assure you 99% of us are not building snowmen, having snowball fights, skiing powder, and looking at beautiful pristine white landscapes all day every day.
It’s fricking cold, gray, depressing, and when it does snow it turns to gray slop and shite that freezes in an hour.

Last year we had snow on mothers day in Ohio. Temps are all over the place for the spring.

I hated winter with a passion. Freezing cold, barely any sun for 4 months. Miserable. I’ll take North Carolina summers over Wisconsin winters 1000 times out of 1000. This super short springs and falls sucked too
My dad(RIP) moved back home to Pittsburgh in May '06. That first winter back was the coldest winter of the last 30 years. Below zero for two solid weeks. Snow on top of snow. Lakes and rivers frozen.
He told me the following summer that he actually missed the Georgia summers. The summers up home were short and not hot enough he said. Now saying that, you couldn't pay my stepmum to move back here. She loathes the humidity w/a passion.

And you’ve been down there a while now so any novelty should be worn off.

Do you guys dread winter like we dread summer in Louisiana?
Yes for sure. When I was a young kid I used to get all excited when it would snow for the first time and didn’t get why my parents hated winter so much. Now I’m the same way, by the middle of February I hate it. You pretty much can’t do anything.
On the other hand, I used to not like heat as much, anything more than low 80s. Now I don’t care anymore, I never complain about heat. I’ll take a hot humid day after months of winter.
Grew up and live in Ohio btw.

Spent three years in Northern Maine, I'll take the heat erryday.

I was born in Wisconsin and lived there until I graduated college, then moved to Los Angeles for grad school before moving to Arizona and have lived here since. I will take the extreme heat in AZ over the cold in WI any day, although neither are a walk in the park.

Heat doesn’t shut down infrastructure.
Rarely does everything shut down for an extended period. They are better equipped to handle the snow/ice.

average Anchorage winters are nice. I'd take that over 90+ and 70+% humidity anyday

Lived in it for 20+ years, I visit right around Xmas every year so I don’t get the super cold but it’s enough to make me glad I love back in the south.

Nope. Temps are generally in the 20s and 30s. There's a lot to do in winter, outdoors. I dislike late March through April.

Yep, I can't wait for October. I'm over the light. I find the darker times peaceful and serene.

Lived in the south and the north an equal amount of time. Currently in Ohio. I prefer the south and the heat any day. Reason being is the outdoor activities I enjoy shutdown over the winter, I hate being couped up inside and I don't enjoy the cold. Down south, the same activities go all year round and I get acclimated to the heat pretty quick.
