Question for those of you who drive full time for Uber

Did you always plan on doing Uber full time or did it just evolve that way from when you were doing it on a part time basis?
My cousin drives for Uber full time in Houston and he said he drives about 40 hours a week and puts about 1500 miles on his car per week. Say he takes off 5 weeks per year, 1500 x 47 = 70k miles per year. You'll need a new car every 2-3 years, no idea how anyone can sustain driving for Uber full time.

Jeesh. So what's he taking in?

It's not sustainable. No way. The drivers only think the money and never the expenses.

You’ve come to the right place to ask this question

Only way I can see it working out is buying a Denali and driving for UberXL
They could go a good 400K miles and have a durable interior

70k miles per year
That's like $38k in deductions

He says about $1k a week but that's probably before expenses
Every Uber driver I've met lies about how much they actually make

More than likely they don't know how to figure out how little they're making. That's why they became drivers in the first place, because they couldn't see it's a losing equation.
The inability to do basic math among the general population is already a problem, but ride-sharing preys upon this ignorance to a new degree. Anyone with a brain and an IRS mileage table would see it's an unsustainable business model both at the parent company and the individual level.

How many hours a week do you drive?

Today’s model is training consumers. There will be no people driving in the future. You’ll be able to bang your date in quadrocopter pods in the near future.
The only people involved will be the ones cleaning the vomit and bloody tampons off the floorboard at the end of the night.
