Update:
I called the number you gave me and spoke to a detective.
He was found in his truck in the hotel parking lot where he was staying this week. They aren't treating it as a crime as they have no reason to believe foul play was involved. He didn't have any drugs in the vehicle either. The detective thinks it may have been a health issue, but won't know more until the autopsy is completed this afternoon.
Thanks everybody for your help and kind words.

I know its hard to pick up on emotional tone through forum posts...but you seem pretty calm about all of this. Were you not close? Does this not surprise you or something?

Sometimes you just have to pick up the responsibility and handle it as best you can while doing what must be done. The emotions come later.

I'm trying to figure out a way to type this without it getting too confusing.
He and I were really good friends as teenagers and throughout high school. However, I started dating his younger sister my Senior year and we kind of had a falling out over it. He eventually got over it and was even in our wedding years later. After we got married and had our son I joined the Air Force and moved to Tampa. We had another child, a girl, but my wife had a really rough pregnancy and serious after birth complications. She died in her sleep a year later.
The Air Force moved my children and I back home to Mississippi to be closer to my family. During my time at Columbus AFB I met my current wife. Now of course my first wife's family was initially very angry about the situation, but we worked it out to the point that my new wife was even vacationing with them (without me in some instances) to places like Destin and New Orleans.
Well the Air Force transferred me to Idaho back in 2013 and he came up to spend Christmas with us, along with his parents, that December. However, he started dating his future wife when he returned to MS and they had a falling out with his parents. We remained close to his mom and dad and we spent two weeks at their house in Mississippi that Spring and they came back up to Idaho the following Christmas again.
They still hadn't worked things out with his parents (they got married in Jamaica and didn't even invite them to the wedding) so we haven't really spoken in a while due to that whole ordeal. We'd text on holidays and birthdays, but not much else.
It's very surprising seeing as he has always wanted a son and they recently found out that one of the twins was a boy so I don't think he killed himself.
My mother just told me they found him slumped over the steering wheel with the door open. He had gone to dinner with his co-workers and seemed fine while they were at the restaurant.
He was relatively young, but it sounds like he had a heart attack or something.
As for me being calm, losing a spouse (and mother to my children) makes coping with death relatively easy. I don't necessarily want to be that way, but it has it's benefits. I get to be the strong one in the situation.

Sorry to hear about all of that. That sucks.
I know what you mean. Losing someone that close to you can desensitize you to some extent, I know it did when I lost my dad as a teenager.
Take care.

That's terrible. So sorry.
The case should have been assigned to a detective to investigate. Unless it's an obvious cause of death like GSW, they aren't going to know much until the medical examiner issues their report. I suggest calling whatever agency is handling the case and locate the detective. They will do their best to keep you informed.
Best of luck to you and your family.
