Same here. Sure, we dropped $500 on him, but that money went straight to a shelter that needed it.

I had a relative ask me who our breeder was, so I feel like we got a steal.

My golden comes from a national grand champion line and was fricking expensive, but is the smartest dog I've ever had.

I have a lab from a reputable breeder and a pup we found on the side of the road.

The rescue pup is obviously inbred and is also filly retarded

I got my dog from that dude that posted on here about 6-7 years ago about the litter he found in a ditch. I forced fed that little fricker a month to get him through parvo.

I have never once thought about looking down my nose at someone who has a nicely bred dog. That’s just fricking weird

That’s good of you but the “adopt don’t shop” folks are more than happy to shame people.

We wanted a golden, so we went with a breeder

We have always gotten shelter dogs, but we narrowed down to a couple of breeds this time and looked for months with no luck. Finally got them from a breeder.

I'll take your side on this one. Of course you worded it terribly, but I'll always adopt over buying.

Adopt? Are you one of those people who LOVE using terms that serve to humanize animals?

Talk to someone who has actually adopted children. It’s a VERY different commitment than buying a fricking dog.

You adopt children. You buy or take-in dogs.

Some people that get rescued or free dogs definitely look down on people that pay for a certain breed. Im not sure exactly why but it’s probably jealousy.

Probably not.

Probably due a lot more to knowing how cruel the puppy mill industry can be in a large amount of cases and the fact that there are tons of options to adopt even purebred dogs that have been given up for whatever reason.

I purposefully used adopt that time just because.

Got my old dog from a vet run rescue, and got my young dog from a farmer who had an accidental litter. His exact words were “she had them in the back of that unused barn in an old horse stall” and I went in there and found one and kept it.

If I was getting something like a German shepherd, I’d want to get it from a reputable breeder where I could meet the parents.

I’m sure most rescue GSDs are great, but there’s a strain of batshit crazy/mentally handicapped that seems to show up every once in a while in that breed that you want to avoid.

I got mine from a friend in California that breeds Goldens. If I am being questioned by one of the militant rescue folks I just tell them I stole the dog. They don't really know what to do with that.

My dogs are well bred like myself.

Don't care what the adopt a dog crowd thinks or says.
